Dragged Into Sunlight - Hatred For Mankind

Boiled Angel/Buried With Leeches
Volcanic Birth
I, Aurora

Tapping into a realm of extreme hatred that I didn't know was possible, DIS's first album is one of the scariest, most pissed off albums I've ever heard and I love every second of it. Especially the serial killer sound bites really play into their awesome brand of blackened death metal. SO heavy!

Who would of guessed that Manks was a member of a white supremacy group.

(That last one is a good album though.)

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Full Album

The great thing about this album is that it's really the first of its kind and has no rules to follow or any expectations to fill. It's all about blues-filled heavy rock that's so dissonant that it warrants its own genre: heavy metal. If you haven't listened to this album yet, leave the hall.

Gorgoroth - Under The Sign Of Hell

Revelation Of Doom
Profetens Apenbaring
The Rite Of Infernal Invocation

Gorgoroth sort of "got it" a lot earlier on than most of their first-wave black metal peers. Heavier, faster and scarier, they put the evil into their sound. This album might be their most hellish offering, and Profetens Apenbaring is my favorite Gorgoroth song. Check out the awesome drumming, too!

The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives

Two-Timing Touch And Broken Bones
Walk Idiot Walk
See Through Head

I've never heard an album by The Hives that I didn't like. This was a follow-up to their fucking awesome 2000 album, and it's pretty much a continuation in the same style, which is exactly what I wanted from it. I only wish when people talked about "garage rock/punk" that it sounded like The Hives.

Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island

Song Against Sex
Gardenhead/Leave Me Alone
Naomi

On Avery Island is fuzzy and dancey and emotional and goofy and awesome. I actually fell in love with this album long before I heard their other release, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I also still know every word to Gardenhead. A must for any fan, big or small, of indie music!

Antaeus - De Principii Evangelikum

Blood War III

The first time I heard Antaeus, it scared me so bad. I was so naive back then, but the are still one of the few remaining truly terrifying black metal bands out there. Straddling the line perfectly between black metal, death metal and war metal, DPE is a swirling murk of blasphemic metal. Blood War III is also one of my favorite songs ever.

Celtic Frost - Monotheist

A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh
Os Abysmi Vel Daath
Synagoga Satanae

Not just the best comeback album of all time, but a fantastic doom/death/gothic album on its own. Celtic Frost totally reinvented themselves from what most people thought was an unsalvageable career and went out with a bang. So evil and so, so good.
