53.Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich - Warrant
![]() Tracklist: 1.32 Pennies 2.Down Boys 3.Big Talk 4.Sometime She Cries 5.So Damn Pretty (Should Be Against The Law) 6.D.R.F.S.R. 7.In The Sticks 8.Heaven 9.Ridin' High 10.Cold Sweat Genre: Glam Metal Warrant is pretty much in the same boat that bands like Poison are in, in the sense they are the main ones people think about when they here the term "glam metal", the ones that make certain people cringe. But I like stuff that a lot of people tend to cringe at.Warrant might be one of the biggest acts to come out of the late glam-era, and the first album is definitely their best (even though "Dog Eat Dog" was pretty impressive). The signature rock anthems and huge power ballads are what Warrant excel at.The guitar riffs of Joey Allen and Erik Turner work well with Jani Lanes vocals (R.I.P.).Highlights include signature ballad "Heaven", great rocker "Down Boys" and the underrated "Big Talk".This is a glam metal paradise. 52.Mechanical Resonance - Tesla
![]() Tracklist: 1.EZ Come EZ Go 2.Comin' Atcha Live 3.Gettin' Better 4.2 Late 4 Love 5.Rock Me To The Top 6.We're No Good Together 7.Modern Day Cowboy 8.Changes 9.Littl Suizi 10.Love Me 11.Cover Queen 12.Before My Eyes Genre: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Tesla, probably one of the best bands that's considered a hair band but isn't.I mean seriously, why do people insist on calling Tesla a glam metal act when they are obviously just a regular hard rock/heavy metal band? Whatever the answer is it's wrong. Now that I've disgusts how they're not a hair band, let's get down to the album.First off, Jeff Keith has one of the best voices on rock 'n' roll, period.Second, the duel guitar bombast of Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch is definitely the best parts of the album.Standouts include western inspired rocker "Modern Day Cowboy", the best song guitar wise Tesla's ever done "Comin' Atcha Live", and my favorite, the seriously underrated "Love Me".If you like straight up hard rock and/or heavy metal, then this is the album for you. Standout Track: "Love Me" http://grooveshark.com/s/Love+Me/31Samh?src=5

51.Wings Of Tomorrow - Europe
![]() Tracklist: 1.Stormwind 2.Scream Of Anger 3.Open Your Heart 4.Treated Bad Again 5.Aphasia 6.Wings Of Tomorrow 7.Wasted Time 8.Lyin' Eyes 9.Dreamer 10.Dance The Night Away Genre: Heavy Metal/Power Metal I have labeled Europe THE most underrated band on the planet.Everyone labels them as bad band because they only listen to "The Final Countdown" and refuse to give anything else a chance.Well, I feel sorry for you because this album is truly a heavy metal album with power metal influences.Joey Tempest's vocals are outstandin, along with John Norum's guitars are killer and probably at their best on this album.Tony Reno's drum playing and John Leven's bass skill are both also pretty good on this record, providing extra power metal punch.Standouts include opener "Stormwind", soothing ballad "Dreamer", and the best one "Wasted Time".This is Europe's best album, and every metal fan should check it out. 50.Whitesnake - Whitesnake
![]() Tracklist: 1.Crying In The Rain 2.Bad Boys 3.Still Of The Night 4.Here I Go Again 5.Give Me All Your Love 6.Is This Love 7.Children Of The Night 8.Straight For The Heart 9.Don't Turn Away Genre: Glam Metal/Heavy Metal Some might think this album is overrated. Some might think it's Whitesnake selling out.And others (including me), say that this is one of the greatest rock/metal albums ever recorded. I know there are those of you who probably don't want to hear "Still Of The Night" or "Here I Go Again" ever again, but you need to go deeper into the album to find it's incredible gems. The combination of David Coverdale and John Sykes is a perfect one that unfortunately was only shown on this album.Standouts include mid-pace opener "Crying In The Rain", the underrated "Straight For The Heart", and the sometimes overlooked "Give Me All You Love".So metal fans and rock fans need to whip this one back out and give it a complete listen, and prepare to be amazed. I'm sure that Whitesnake album was called 1987. Maybe just in the UK? It is a great record, it's just that past Whitesnake records were much more 'pure' blues based. Coverdale changed almost the whole band and aimed it fair and square at the american market (ie sales). It worked for him, but in the process alienated alot of older fans who were less than impressed by the new mainstream approach.
Being born in '72, I grew up through the whole glam rock explosion and this thread brings back many memories for me even though Judas Priest will forever remain my favorite band (btw did you see what they looked like around 'Turbo'!!!!!!!!!!). Dunno if you ever got Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction in the US. If not check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtnCcWOS7y8. If you did I expect to see the first album in the top 20. Great thread. Just one thing, could you put the release year on your reviews? Last edited by devilball; 03-02-2013 at 03:59 PM. Reason: spelling |

You are correct, in the US it was just called Whitesnake. Great album and I agree that it's too bad the Coverdale/Sykes team didn't last longer. I missed out on the earlier Whitesnake blues rock sound at the time and was introduced to the band via this album, and was just floored by the sound and the songs.
I am surprised this isn't higher on your list, can't wait to see what's next! |

49.Queen II - Queen
![]() Year Of Release: 1974 Tracklist: 1.Procession 2.Father To Son 3.White Queen (As It Began) 4.Some Day One Day 5.The Looser In The End 6.Ogre Battle 7.The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke 8.Nevermore 9.The March Of The Black Queen 10.Funny How Love Is 11.Seven Seas Of Rhye Genre: Rock/Metal Queen's second entry in my list of top 100 albums, is one that is definitely a metal record and probably one of the first metal records ever made. The many different vocal and guitar parts that Queen is known for is taken to the extreme on this album. All four players are incredibly talented at what they do.Brian May has shredding guitars aplenty, Freddie Mercury gives stellar vocal performances, Roger Taylor pounds on the drums, and John Deacon's awesome skill at the bass is shown on this album as well.Highlights include possibly the first speed metal song ever "Ogre Battle", the bombastic epic "The March Of The Black Queen", and the best and possibly most known song on the album "Seven Seas Of Rhye".This isn't Queen's best album, but it sure comes close.
