I think that has something to do with the bands "hiatus". They haven't released anything new since 1999, plus their original run back in the 80s didn't last long. What they recorded was very influencial no dobut, but it just didn't last that long. A lot of people people have probably just forgot about them since the focus has always been more on King's solo material.

Well when you have Priest and Maiden on the list as well, it's kinda hard to vote for Mercyful Fate, as awesome as their guitarists (and the whole band) are.

Mustaine/Friedman gets my vote because Mustaine is arguably the best vocalist/guitarist out there.

Agreed... the fact that the Slayer duo has 5 votes when Metallica has 3 is idiotic. As redundant as a lot of Hammett's solos are, he plays circles around both Slayer guys... and Hetfield writes riffs as well as either of them and throws in the occasional nice melodic solo too.
