Van Halen -- Manhattan, NY -- May 22nd, 1998
Yes, it's that time again, folks. My inner VH fanboy has decided to make an appearance.
1998 was a crossover year for VH. The new record (Van Halen III) was their first record since 1984 to fail to hit #1, this was their first & only record & tour with Extreme frontman Gary Cherone, and 1998 seemed to kickstart a decade long controversy surrounding just about everybody in the band. That being said, this was a great year to see them in person. Eddie was on fire the whole tour and Gary embraced all eras of the band. This remains the only tour to feature songs from all 3 eras. Pretty much, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The boys played Madison Square Garden on this evening to a packed house & the setlist featured gems that hadn't seen the light of day in about 15 years and wouldn't be seen again for another decade. 1. Unchained 2. Without You 3. One I Want 4. Mean Street 5. When It's Love 6. Fire In The Hole 7. Why Can't This Be Love 8. Romeo Delight 9. Drum Solo 10. Dance The Night Away 11. Feel Your Love Tonight 12. Humans Being 13. Somebody Get Me A Doctor 14. Year To The Day 15. Guitar Solo 16. Year To The Day (reprise) 17. Right Now 18. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love 19. Panama 20. Jump 21. I'm The One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B9GtgWA6Cs |
