Manky's Year In Review: Pop Edition

As some of you may know, I have gotten super into pop music the past year. I don't mean like hipster pop bullshit like M83 or whatever, but stuff on the radio.

I only listened to one full pop album this year (which will be in my main list) but the group is from Korea (any guesses?) so this list will be primarily of songs that were on American radio this year. I'm gonna do my top 10 and bottom 10 songs of the year.

Enrique Iglesias - Finally Found You




So for some reason, Enrique Iglesias went from being a perfectly normal pop star with a pretty good singing voice (and making one of the greatest pop love songs ever [Hero]) to basically making Black Eyed Peas songs. He really doesn't need to autotune his voice at all, but hey - it sells! This song actually isn't horrendous, especially not as bad as his last few singles, but the lyrical content makes it really easy to imagine Enrique as this stalker following a girl and threatening to kidnap her. "EITHER YOU'RE COMING WITH ME OR I'M COMING WITH YOU!" Holy shit, brah. Where's my mace?

Karmin - Brokenhearted



Man, I really hate this song. The verses on their own are alright and it has a catchy beat, but holy shit when the girl starts to "rap" and for some reason adopts an English accent, it makes me turn into a blind rage. Absolutely stupid and totally ruins an otherwise unremarkable song. Karmin is a one-trick pony that has already faded off most people's radars and hopefully by this time next year they'll have been forgotten forever.
