Well. fuck, since my external hard drive crapped out on me and a "power surge" (my roommate's drunk girlfriend) deleted the next five reviews I had written, I'm just gonna finish this up with really short, couple sentence reviews.

25. Spawn of Possession - Incurso

Still waiting for that new Necrophagist album? Have no fear, Spawn of Possession is here to ease the wait! This tech death release is oozing with great riffs and technical prowess.

Spawn of Possession - Where Angels Go Demons Follow
Spawn of Possession - The Evangelist

24. Death Grips - The Money Store

This is some of the most aggressive hip-hop that I've heard. The industrial influences aid in that.

Death Grips - The Fever (Aye Aye)
Death Grips - I've Seen Footage

23. Orange Goblin - A Eulogy for the Damned

This is one of the most catchy stoner/traditional releases that I've ever heard. The choruses will be stuck in your head for days.

Orange Goblin - Red Tide Rising
Orange Goblin - The Filthy and the Few

22. Hooded Menace - Effigies of Evil

Death/doom is probably one of my favorite genres at the moment and Hooded Menace just delivers everything I need in a death/doom release. It has the slow/crushing riffs with melodic parts interspersed with some great vocals.

Hooded Menace - Crumbling Insanity
Hooded Menace - Evoken Vulgarity

21. Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction

Any traditional doom band is inevitably going to get likened to Black Sabbath, but in Pallbearer's case it's completely founded because the vocalist sounds like an exact mix of Ozzy and Geddy Lee and it's fucking fantastic. Devoid of Redemption also may have my favorite riff of the year.

Pallbearer - Devoid of Redemption
Pallbearer - An Offering of Grief

20. Cancer Bats - Dead Set on Living

I guess this is considered Southern influence metallic hardcore. Whatever it is it kicks ass. I even enjoy the occasional bit of melodic vocals which is something that is rare for me.

Cancer Bats - RATS
Cancer Bats - Road Sick

19. Pig Destroyer - Book Burner

Pig Destroyer deliver another grindcore masterpiece with Book Burner. This album is more of what Pig Destroyer is best known for: catchy grindcore.

Pig Destroyer - Sis
Pig Destroyer - The Diplomat

18. Eluveitie - Helvetios

This is damn close to being Eluveitie's best album to date, but Slania is just too damn good. Helvetios is a great mix of really heavy folk metal tracks and some great folky pseudo-ballads.

Eluveitie - Luxtos
Eluveitie - The Siege

17. Unleashed - Odalheim

This is more melodic death metal than the Swedish death metal that Unleashed used to be, but it's still a great release. Great riffs everywhere. You just can't argue with viking themed death metal.

Unleashed - Fimbulwinter
Unleashed - White Christ

16. Incantation - Vanquish in Vengeance

I've known about Incantation for years, but just started listening to them this year when I bought Onward to Golgotha and Mortal Throne of Nazarene. This is some great death metal that isn't afraid to get slow and almost doomy at times.

Incantation - Invoking Infinity
Incantation - From Hollow Sands

15. Hour of Penance - Sedition

It's so uncompromisingly brutal, yet it sacrifices none of it's technicality. Some of the fastest shit to come out this year.

Hour of Penance - Decimate the Ancestry of the Only God
Hour of Penance - Sedition Through Scorn

14. 3 Inches of Blood - Long Live Heavy Metal

Super cheesy album title, but solid as fuck traditional metal. I'm glad they started throwing in screams hear and there again.

3 Inches of Blood - Leather Lord
3 Inches of Blood - Men of Fortune

13. Black Breath - Sentenced to Life

It's got everything you need in it: crust, thrash, death, grind, hardcore, black, buzzsaw distortion. I'm still surprised these guys aren't from Sweden.

Black Breath - Sentenced to Life
Black Breath - Endless Corpse

12. Aborted - Global Flatline

I didn't have high expectations for this album since the Coronary Reconstruction EP kinda sucked, but this album rips. Also, there is an impressive array of guest vocalists. Sven is still one of the best vocalists in death metal.

Aborted - Global Flatline
Aborted - Coronary Reconstruction

11a. Derketa - In Death We Meet

I listened to this after I started my list and knew that I had to include it, so I'm just doing 11a and b instead of moving everything up a number. A death/doom band where 3/4 of the members are female! I absolutely love the slow doomy parts. The frontwoman's vocals also go so well with the music.

Derketa - Rest in Peace
Derketa - In Death We Meet

11b. Goatwhore - Blood for the Master

Goatwhore really solidified my love for them this year with this album and the three times I got to see them. It's another fantastic mix of black and death metal with some thrashiness to it.

Goatwhore - Collapse in Eternal Worth
Goatwhore - When Steel and Bone Meet

10. Overkill - The Electric Age

I personally like it better than Ironbound, but I spent more time with this one than I did with Ironbound. Just some great ass thrash that sounds like it's straight out of the eighties.

Overkill - Come and Get It
Overkill - Save Yourself
Overkill - Old Wounds, New Scars

9. Dethklok - Dethalbum III

I wasn't big on this album at first, but after many, many repeated listens, I absolutely love it now. I still think "Starved" is the worst Dethklok song and shouldn't be on the album at all.

Dethklok - I Ejaculate Fire
Dethklok - Crush the Industry
Dethklok - The Galaxy

The next eight albums are the unfuckwithable 5/5 albums of 2012.

8. Make Them Suffer - Neverbloom

Sweet ass symphonic deathcore with a bit of blackened vocals from Australia (the best place for the genre). I have a bit of an obsession with this band ever since their amazing EP Lord of Woe in 2010.

Make Them Suffer - Neverbloom
Make Them Suffer - Maelstrom (released as a standalone single, but rerecorded for the album)
Make Them Suffer - Weeping Wastelands (Originally on Lord of Woe EP, but rerecorded for the album)

7. Cannibal Corpse - Torture

I thought that Evisceration Plague was their worst album to date and that Kill was their best album post-Barnes, so I was extremely pleased when this album turned out sounding more like Kill. This has song of CC's best songs to date. Dat bass solo in The Strangulation Chair ! I hated Scourge of Iron when the album came out, but in the last month that song has really grown on me.

Cannibal Corpse - As Deep As the Knife Will Go
Cannibal Corpse - Followed Home Then Killed
Cannibal Corpse - The Strangulation Chair

6. Xibalba - Hasta La Muerte

Doomy hardcore? Yes fucking please! This album is absolutely crushing. One of the heaviest things I've heard all year.

Xibalba - No Serenity
Xibalba - Hasta La Muerte
Xibalba - Cold

5. Teenage Bottlerocket - Freak Out!

This is just fun as fuck punk right here. Lots of songs with silly subject matter that end up being catchy as hell. This band is completely underrated and that's a shame. Plus, the two times I saw them this year, they came on stage to Slayer's South of Heaven. The guitarist was also wearing a Deicide shirt.

Teenage Bottlerocket - Headbanger (Thumbs up for the Death Angel 'Frolic in the Park' shirt, Bathory shirt and Municipal Waste graffiti)
Teenage Bottlerocket - Cruising For Chicks
Teenage Bottlerocket - Necrocomicon
Teenage Bottlerocket - In the Pit

The last four as I write them.

4. Anaal Nathrakh - Vanitas

Anaal Nathrakh finally got back to being brutal as hell after going a bit too melodic on their last few albums. I think this is their best album since The Codex Necro. If you like black metal, industrial, grindcore or getting your mind fucked, then you should listen to this album. The opening 1-2-3-4 punch is phenomenal.

Anaal Nathrakh - The Blood-Dimmed Tide
Anaal Nathrakh - Forging Towards the Sunset
Anaal Nathrakh - To Spite the Face
Anaal Nathrakh - Todo Somos Humanos

3. Royal Thunder - CVI

The riffs!! They're so catchy. This could possibly be classified as bluesy doom metal or at least that's what I call it. The vocal delivery from front woman Mlny is flawless. Whispering World might be one of the best songs in existence.

Royal Thunder - Parsonz Curse
Royal Thunder - Whispering World (This version sounds phenomenal)
Royal Thunder - Shake and Shift
Royal Thunder - Blue

2. Asphyx - Deathhammer

Martin van Drunen can do no wrong! Asphyx delivers another slow, crushing death/doom release. I absolutely love the drumming on this album.

Asphyx - Into the Timewastes
Asphyx - Deathhammer
Asphyx - Minefield
Asphyx - Os Abysmi Vel Daath (Celtic Frost Cover) (An awesome bonus track)

1. Cattle Decapitation - Monolith of Inhumanity

This has the longest run of perfect tracks of any album this year. Track 1 all the way up to the interlude track are perfect. Travis Ryan definitely gets vocal performance of the year for this one. His addition of "clean" vocals is just fucking awesome. This is a masterpiece of the deathgrind genre.

Cattle Decapitation - The Carbon Stampede
Cattle Decapitation - A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat
Cattle Decapitation - Lifestalker
Cattle Decapitation - Kingdom of Tyrants

A lot of the songs I wanted weren't on Youtube for some reason (namely Dead Set on Suicide and Your Disposal).

Woo! Finally done. I plan on adding other shit because I like making lists, so, yeah...thanks for reading and stuff! I appreciate it.
