Kill Devil Hill -- West Greenwich, RI -- August 25th, 2012

State #6 on my "See a concert in every state before I croak" list was officially scratched off this evening when I saw Kill Devil Hill at the Rock Junction (formerly The Rock House) in Rhode Island on the West Greenwich/Coventry line.

Doors opened at 8. I got to the venue at 7 just to scope the place out and snoop around. I go to walk to the entrance and what do ya know, there's Vinny Appice & Rex Brown hanging out like Jay & Silent Bob in front of the Quick Stop. Chatted with both for 10 or 15 minutes and they were the nicest, most down to earth dudes.

Opening band was a local cover band called Identity Crisis. They did 2 45 minute sets. 9 to 945 & 10 to 1045. Fucked if I remember the entire setlist or order, but here's what I remember them playing....

Sad But True (Metallica)
Remedy (Seether)
You've Got Another Thing Comin' (Judas Priest)
Mr. Brownstone (GNR)
Figured You Out (Nickelback)
Click Click Boom (Saliva)
Seek & Destroy (Metallica)
Awake (Godsmack)
She Hates Me (Puddle of Mudd)
Bodies (Drowning Pool)

Yeah, can't remember the rest....it's 4AM and I'm falling asleep at the helm here, bear with me.

Kill Devil Hill hit the stage at 1115 and played until 1245. Amazing energy from the band even though the crowd sucked beyond suck. If there were 100 people there, I'd be overestimating. Still, they played like they were playing in front of 10,000 strong at the Garden. Also, at the end of the show, all of the guys went to the merch table and signed whatever you wanted for no charge. I thought that was a very classy move, considering how established Rex & Vinny are. They're truly in it for the fun of it now and giving back to their fans.

Their setlist...

We're All Gonna Die
Strange
Time & Time Again
War Machine
Gates Of Hell
Old Man
Drum Solo
Voodoo Doll
Mysterious Ways
Bass Solo
Rise From The Shadows
Hangman
Up In Flames
Revenge
____
War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover - partial)
Drawbridge

I highly recommend checking this band out if you can. They're on tour until September 15th.
