I haven't heard anything from that venue since they last shut it down. I forget when it was, a year ago? Two years ago?

Was it shut down before that?

I could be wrong I guess if it was brought back recently, but as far as I know it's still closed.

EDIT: I just checked. Yep, it's closed. They closed it down in March last year. And you're right, they did close it down in 2009 once but re-opened it in 2010.

I went to see Werhmacht at the Key Club a few weeks before it shut down. I could tell things were looking bad for the venue. The bars were cash only. That is an extremely terrible thing to have for a bigger venue in West Hollywood. I'm okay with it. They are also shutting down the House of Blues. Also done with that.

Whisky
Orpheum Theater
El Rey Theater
Saban Theater
Nokia Theater
Club Nokia
Shrine Auditorium
Troubadour
Wiltern Theater
Echoplex
House of Blues
Greek Theater
The Forum (Inglewood)
The Mayan

Where else might potentially book a rock show?
The Viper Room
The Echo(it's above the Echoplex)
Los Globos
Cafe Nela(usually small bands)
Old Towne Pub(small bands)
Down and Out

Yeah, I heard about House of Blues a few weeks ago. I can't say I'm super bummed about that, but I'm just afraid that's going to lead to more shows being booked at Club Nokia and the Observatory, and I really dislike those venues. I'd much rather go to the House of Blues over those two.

But Ramona Mainstage has been booking a lot of shows lately so that's a good sign that those venues aren't going to just scoop up all the mid-level tours that the House of Blues has been getting. I've never been to Ramona Mainstage, but it is much closer to me than any of the LA/OC venues, so it has that advantage.

I love The Observatory, but that's probably because the venue is only 10 minutes away from my house.

Yeah, if I lived that close to it I guess I wouldn't mind it much.

I've had bad experiences at the metal shows I've been to there though. The Geto Boys experience there was good, but that was different.

I still haven't seen a show in the Constellation Room yet.

It did always strike me as odd/redundant that there was a HOB in LA, and one down the road in Anaheim.

Fuck the Observatory. Everything about that venue is shitty. I'll avoid going there as much as I can. I hope more shows happen at the Echoplex.
