They are probably called deathcore just because they are on Sumerian Records. I personally think they have more in common with bands like Obscura than they do with, say, Veil of Maya. Hopefully the new album will help them shed the whole "deathcore" tag.

On a side note, they REALLY stepped it up at Summer Slaughter this year. Their best performance i've seen by them so far.

No, they're called deathcore because their first album has occasional breakdowns and metalcore riffs. They completely shed the deathcore tag with Planetary Duality and anybody saying they're still a deathcore band is just an idiot.

Yeah, I forget that the first album had some deathcore influences. I just get tired of people lumping them into that genre, same with the Black Dahlia Murder.

With that being said, I like way their new album is sounding so far.

Album is outstanding

Definitely proggier than PD. I would say comparisons to Opeth are fair.

Cool. The sample had me interested. Going to give it a listen in a bit.

I was never really big into this band, I had heard some stuff but none of it ever really blew me away or grabbed my attention enough to listen to more stuff. But, I saw them at Summer Slaughter last night and I enjoyed their set a lot more than I thought I would. So, I'm gonna have to revisit their material and check out this new album.
