Ted Nugent -- Boston, MA -- July 10th, 2012
Venue: Wilbur Theater
Capacity: 1,200 Attendance: 800 would be a good guesstimate. Floor was packed, mid level was almost packed, next to nobody in balcony. Opener: Laura Wilde (8:00-8:30) Opening act was a rocker chick from Melbourne, Australia by the name of Laura Wilde, and her band. Here's the best way I can put it. Think ACDC with tits. Straight up riff rock with a smokin' hot frontwoman. I nabbed their setlist at the end of the show. 1. Nothing Back 2. Angel 3. All Alone 4. For You 5. Sold My Soul 6. Jailbreak (ACDC cover) 7. Drum Solo 8. Love Buyer 9. Tragedy Ted Nugent (9:00-10:45) 3rd time seeing Nuge & Co. in 3 years and it just gets better every year. Saw them for the first time in 2010 at the Boston House of Blues...great show, no complaints. Saw them last year at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom...Derek St. Holmes back on vocals, even better. This year...I don't know if it can get better. The perfect venue, an awesome setlist and the most fun I've had at any show this year. I'll post some pics tomorrow night, but here's the setlist for now. 1. Gonzo 2. Just What The Doctor Ordered 3. Wango Tango 4. Turn It Up 5. Free For All 6. Stormtroopin' 7. Dirty Water (The Standells cover, partial) 8. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang 9. Red House (The Jimi Hendrix Experience cover) 10. Need You Bad 11. Live It Up 12. Fred Bear 13. Hey Baby 14. Cat Scratch Fever 15. Stranglehold Encore 16. Great White Buffalo 17. Star Spangled Banner Disclaimer: Leave your political opinions at the door. This thread is for the ones who enjoy Ted's music. That's a great set for sure. I wish he'd play Little Miss Dangerous every now and again. I wonder when the last time he played it was?

Quote:
Ever since he released Spirit Of The Wild (1995), he's stayed almost fully toward the hard rock side of things instead of the more poppy stuff he did in the mid 80s. |

I'm glad Derek has been back with them. I was wondering around how many songs he did lead vocals on. Did he do Stranglehold, like on the album? A lot of people think Ted sang that, they don't even know who Derek is.

Ya know, I'm a total moron. I just realized that they also played Hey Baby as well, right before Cat Scratch Fever. No idea why that slipped my mind.
But yeah, Derek sang all of the songs he did on the albums. He also did the Red House vocals. Ted did the Dirty Water vocals (they usually play that whenever they're in Boston) All in all, it was the most fun I've had at any show this year, and I've been to 11 shows so far in 2012. The energy Ted has at 63 is double that of more than half of the bands half his age. I liked this year's setlist better than last year's. Gonzo is a fucking bulldozer concert opener. Live It Up was an awesome addition & Red House was a cool homage to Jimi. |

Opening with a song that, until this tour, hadn't been on the setlist for over 30 years.

Ted always puts on a great show, and I'm glad Derek is back with him. Caught him the last 2 years at the Beach in Hampton, but was away this year and missed this show. Thanks for the review and pictures!
