Mastodon -- Maplewood, MN -- May 7th, 2012

Opeth didn't play. This is according to setlist.fm:

Black Tongue
Hand Of Stone
Crystal Skull
Dry Bone Valley
Thickening
Octopus Has No Friends
Blasteroid
Stargasm
The Hunter
Crack The Skye
All The Heavy Lifting
Spectrelight
Curl Of The Burl
Bedazzled Fingernails
Iron Tusk
March of the Fire Ants
Blood And Thunder
Creature Lives

Not all that extended, but it was pretty short notice I guess. Still, I'd love to get some extra Mastodong in DC tomorrow.

Ol' Nessie is a fucking awesome addition, especially on a whim.

Mikael Akerfeldt was in a car accident, that's why Opeth didn't play.

A guy who was at the show said the merch guy for Opeth said that Mikael was getting off their bus, fell and hit his head. He should be OK.

Onto to Mastodon...Ol'e Nessie?????????? . So mad I didn't get that at my show. That must have been sweet.

This set is definitely not right. They played Iron Tusk and March of the Fire Ants right near the end. I am absolutely certain of that. They also played The Sparrow right before Creature Lives. And no, Ole' Nessie was not played. I would've died if I saw that song.

Yeah, setlist.fm has now been changed to say Tusk and Ants.

Gotta say I am pleasantly surprised that Mastodon extended their set. Usually big bands with big egos wouldn't give a shit about extending sets if put in a situation like this

I would consider trading "Nessie" for both "Ants" and "Tusk" if I hadn't heard them play both live already. Just sayin'.

2 corrections:

It was in fact Iron Tusk and March Of The Fire Ants. Sadly not Ole Nessie

Mikael came out and said what actually happened today. He hit his head in Mastodon's bus. No broken arm, no car crashes.
