Fear Factory -- Houston, TX -- May 3rd, 2012
Noise in the Machine Tour
Scout Bar Houston, TX May 3rd, 2012
Mechanize was listed as the first song, but it was scratched shortly before they came on. Venue was very small, but packed. If it wasn't sold out, definitely close. Band sounded great - they plowed through the setlist with minimal breaks. Mike and Matt both fit in quite well, so no worries for anyone who might have been concerned. Only gripe on my part is that this is pretty much identical to the Mechanize tour set list, but that is very minor. I'm sure they will be back through soon. ![]() Later! |

Ending with four songs from Demanufacture... nice. Pretty decent set, could be a couple songs longer though. The only other things I'd really like are Crash Test, Pisschrist, and something off Archetype.

Agreed with the additions. Would have killed to hear Bonescraper live again.

Would like to see Slave Labor and archetype. Their tour for Archetype had a great set.
Still a solid set here |

Per setlist.fm, this was Shadows Fall's set (sorry, first time hearing them last night):
I was really impressed by their set, and definitely will check them out. Since I really don't know their material, can't really say what was a highlight to me. The couple of new songs that were mentioned as new sounded really good. Other openers were: Legacy of Disorder (mentioned they were going to be opening for GWAR in November), Devastated, The Browning, and some other band that was playing right when doors opened. They were ok, but I would have been happy if they had cut one of them and extended Fear Factory's time. Like I mentioned originally, the venue was really, really small. Extremely intimate. Crowd was sparse for the first two bands, but filled up by the time Devastated came on. No pit or anything until Shadows Fall played. Lead singer dove into the crowd for the last song, and, fortunately, was able to recover his wedding ring that slipped off when he did that. ![]() For Fear Factory, I was literally up against the stage (no barrier or security in front) in front of Burton. As a result, we had people up on stage occasionally, and a few stage divers. There looked to be a pretty healthy pit going as well the few times I looked behind. Got to "sing" the chorus to Linchpin when Burton dropped the mic in front of me. Maybe a little fanboy-ish of me since I have been seeing their shows since 1992, but that was pretty cool. The show is well worth the price of admission. |

They have two brand new members, one literally just joined a couple weeks ago. The set's not going to change for a while, and i have no problem with that. Even if they play this exact set at Shockwave, I'll be happy.

the last time I saw Fear Factory
Strapping Young Lad and Soilwork opened. Have to admit, SYL doing a hometown show just DESTROYED everyone. Devin was hilarious on stage. Id totally see Burton C Bell and Co. live again as they were just as much of a treat as SYL/Soilwork. |
