Iced Earth tonight. It'll be packed because it sold so shitty that they added another local opener, gave them a 200 person guest list and then were even giving out free tickets last night to the show after Carcass.

This never happens here. Promoters would rather cancel shows than do this.

They're playing a 2300 cap venue here compared to the 500 cap venue they played here last year that didn't sell out. It's gonna be a trainwreck.

With the way beer is marked up at shows, the venue could probably still make their money back from alcohol alone if they get people in the door. When I saw Carcass two weeks ago, Bud Light was $9 for a small, $13 for a tall and Sierra Nevada was a buck more expensive. With that kind of profit margin, they can make their money back easy.

Totally. But the promoters probably can't without actual ticket sales. Very few promoters here operate their own venues.

Well I got to the venue tonight and wasn't on the guestlist. The band told a ton of people they were on it and barely put anyone on there.

Plus after Carcass last night they were giving away hundreds of tickets so itll be a full show but everyone there is losing money.

Also since I dont care for Iced Earth or Sabaton I refused to pay the $40 for it.

Did you have a TM number on hand? Always try to get a contact before the show if you can help it. I ran into a similar issue at an Obituary show a year and a half ago- I went asking and hunting around outside the venue for the TM, found him and introduced myself calmly and professionally, and he managed to get me sorted. That's something you're gonna wanna get good at if you want to continue to get into shows for free via writing for a blog.

Were you on Iced Earth's list or Century Media's list? Generally, I found that the labels are on their shit when it comes to guest-lists, the bands' lists can definitely be hit-or-miss depending on how professional they are.

They added a local opener and gave them a guest list to help draw people. Band told a shit ton of people they'd be on and added almost no one. I showed them the confirmation but with it being the band themselves they couldn't do anything.

Plus I don't care enough about the lineup to argue.

So I went home and just started Wrestlemania.
