Wino/Scott Kelly/Steve Von Till - Townes Van Zandt tribute album

'If I Needed You' (Steve Von Till)
'St. John The Gambler' (Scott Kelly)
'Black Crow Blues' (Steve Von Till)
'Lungs' (Scott Kelly)
'Rake' (Wino)
'The Snake Song' (Steve Von Till)
'Nothing' (Wino)
'Tecumseh Valley' (Scott Kelly)
'A Song For' (Wino)

Fuck everyone who doesn't see this as the best news of the year (although I already knew it was coming, but ssshhh).

Released on Neurot Recordings in June.

This should be awesome although I was hoping it was a collaboration album with original material. I've only heard one Townes song (Nothing) and I dig it. A tour with all these guys would be killer.

Here's a vid of Wino doing "Nothing"

Wino and Conny Ochs also covered 'Rust' on their tour, and 'Highway Kind' on their album.

I knew they were going to do a Townes tribute disc, so I'm not disappointed at all because Townes is awesome (seriously just buy the 4 disc 'Texas Troubadour' box set - it's awesome and cheap), but I did think they'd play the songs together, rather than recording effectively three solo songs each.

But holy shit do I want them to do a three-way in-the-round tour of this stuff and their solo stuff.

'Adrift', 'The Wake', 'A Grave Is a Grim Horse'... all such great albums.

Definitely. I would love to see that.

Glad to see someone who shares my love for those albums.
