Slayer made their first ever Live debut at this fucking show....period

Well, I wouldn't really call it a show. This took place at some high school while they were still little teenie boppers. I think it was a talent show or a Battle of the Bands, not sure, but it was one of the two for sure. Anyways heres the set!!!

Awesome. Hard to believe they were doing this in 1982. Seems so extreme when you compare it to what Metallica was doing at the same time.

It blows my mind that they were playing "Aggressive Perfector" this early on in their little young careers much before they went onto record the actual song in 1983 for the Metal Blades compilation, and then RE-record it for Reign in Blood in 1986. I prefer the 1983 version though, I just love those High Pitch screams that Tom Araya does on that version. Hell, I love all those High pitch screams that Tom belches out on those Haunting the Chapel/Show No mercy songs.

Speaking of which, I bet Tom did tons of those High pitch screams at that high school in front of all those 14-16 year old kids.

Compared to what Metallica were doing? They were probably playing faster than Slayer were at this point. Hit the Lights, The Mechanix, Motorbreath, plus covers of The Prince, Am I Evil and Blitzkrieg... Doesn't matter though, Overkill were probably thrashing harder than either of them in 1982 even though no setlists exist.

I'm not talking about the speed of the music, I'm talking about the Satanic imagery and lyrical content. They essentially took the ideas of Venom to a new level.

OK, but in 1982, Slayer were barely even a band. Who knows what songs like Crionics and Die By The Sword sounded like at that point? It would take about another year before Slayer really started unleashing evil on the west coast.

And hey, yeah I wasn't there, I was three years old at the time, but that's my opinion from what I've read and listened to.

I bet the songs came out amazingly. You know, especially since it took place at a Highschool. High schools are known for having the best sound quality/amps/sound components when it comes to concerts, so I'm sure the songs sounded even better than their album counter-parts.
