GarageMetal468's top Death Metal albums
After months of laziness I've finally gotten around to fixing up my list of my favorite death metal albums! It's about finalized now, I might change some stuff later in the list but for now the beginning is all set.
A couple things about this list: It's gonna be the same format as my top thrash metal albums list I made a few months back. The only difference is that this list has DOUBLE the albums that my thrash list had! There are 62 as of now, more may be added as I usually do forget albums! Only 2 bands repeat on here. I love me some death metal and there just had to be some bands that put out 2 albums I really, REALLY love. Other than that, just one album per band on here. I love all these albums. Just because an album is in the 50's ranking doesn't mean I think of it as "Eh, this album is okay, just enough to make my list." That's not how it works! An album is in the 50's because there happens to be albums ahead of it that I happen to like more! If I thought something was just "okay" it wouldn't have made this list. ALSO: This list covers ALL kinds of death metal, be it brutal, tech, doom, etc. I believe that is about it. I'm gonna go through the list once more and post the first one soon!

Don't worry about it, and I already did something wrong because now I got 71 albums on here!
I think we're set, gonna post #71 right now.

Devourment - Butcher the Weak Genre: Slam/Brutal Death Metal mmmm, slam. This is top notch for being what it is. Tons of killer riffs, insane drumming, and actually well placed bass drops! My favorite thing about this album, however, are the breakdowns/slams. DAMN they pull them ridiculously on here! Babykiller is the perfect example for this. I'm sure most people have heard this band/album before, but if you like slam or just breakdowns and brutal death metal in general, check this out! Highlights: Butcher the Weak Serial Cocksucker Babykiller

Revocation - Existence is Futile ![]() Genre: Technical Death/Thrash Metal Revocation have always been interesting. They mix technicality with death and thrash metal, but with more of an emphasis on death metal. Every person on here is extremely talented at what they do and this album shows it. The guitars help make this album awesome. The leads, solos, everything about them is remarkable. I know most of everyone on this site has listened to this band before, so you'd know what to expect. But for those who haven't, check it out, it's crazy. Highlights: Pestilence Reigns Re-AniManiac Dismantle the Dictator

Obscura - Cosmogenesis ![]() Genre: Technical Death Metal One of the finer tech death releases on there. Again, I'm sure a lot of you on here have heard this before so you know what to expect. If you haven't, prepare from incredibly technical work from all the instruments and a hell of a listen. This would be a lot higher but some songs start to recycle riffs later on in the album. Aside from that it's a great album. Highlights: Incarnated Universe Momentum Infinite Rotation

Nunslaughter - Hex ![]() Genre: Death Metal Straight up in your face death metal. The songs are short but to the point and don't let down the entire album. The lyrics are pretty cheesy and funny yet they fit the theme of the band. Any fan of death metal should check this out, regardless. I actually found this on vinyl in perfect condition at a Half-Priced Books by my friend's house... and they didn't have the actual vinyl. ![]() Highlights: This is Fucking War I Hate Christians Smell the Burning Churches

dISEMBOWELMENT - Transcendence Into the Peripheral ![]() Genre: Death/Doom, Funeral Doom Metal The one funeral doom metal on here that has enough death metal elements to be considered a death metal album. Mixing up the slow passages and atmospheres of funeral doom with the vocals, intense riffs and drumming from death metal, you get dISEMBOWELMENT. This album is crazy as hell and very long, but it is well worth a listen. This was done in 1993... amazing. There was nothing like it at it's time. Highlights: The Tree of Life and Death Your Prophetic Throne of Ivory The Spirits of the Tall Hills
