Eh... didn't like the song at all. Just the same riff for 2 minutes straight with not so good vocals. I mean Pete Sandoval is still a beast but that's about it.

Let's be honest. The entirety of "World Downfall" pretty much fits this description as well.

The reason that people liked it before is that it was groundbreaking music back then (mostly in terms of speed). The reason that people who liked it back then still like it today is that it still fits their old definition of "awesome", which is good enough for them. The reason people with no prior history of Terrorizer to speak of don't really like it (or shall we say, aren't that impressed by it), is that there has been a lot of stuff that has come out since then that's better / more interesting to them, so they call it "boring" or "crap".

TL;DR: It all depends on when you got into extreme metal and what your expectations are.

Knowing quite a few people that are mainly into grindcore, I've never heard any of them say that World Downfall is boring / crap.

I wasn't really saying that.

I was primarily trying to say that some folks who aren't Terrorizer fans don't think the new material is anything special, because they don't have any previous love for this style.


EDIT: Maybe what I should have said is, "it's grindcore - what were you expecting...good vocals or a multitude of different riffs in one song?"

Ah. True, the grindcore scene has changed and Terrorizer doesn't exactly fit in with the newer bands like Wormrot.

With that aside, I think the new song sounds good... except for those vocals. They're horrendous. They ruin it for me.

I don't know, I just tend to not expect much in the way of vocals when it comes to grind. Maybe you get them, maybe you don't. It's mostly about the power of the riffs for me, I guess. Always has been.

It's definitely about the riffs. And the speed, of course. I don't think the vocals on World Downfall were anything spectacular, but they got the job done. Anthony Rezhawk is absolutely horrible though. He just flat out sucks. I mean, they seriously couldn't find someone better than him?

I think they're just trying to keep it to friends of Jesse. I agree the vocals could be better, but I don't think they detract anything from the music. They sound much better on this album than on Darker Days Ahead at least

As for the other argument, World Downfall isn't far from this style. Terrorizer isn't a "start stop total chaos" grind band. They're a precise and structured grind band that leans heavily towards death metal. The only thing that could make the album suck is if it only has five riffs like Darker Days Ahead, but so far the demo and Subterfuge are both pretty different.
