Okay, thanks guys! And it isn't a bad drive (in my downtown), so not a problem there. I've heard polar reviews of how strict they are though.

Why are there 18+ age restrictions on shows in the USA? I can understand age restrictions due to liquor laws but aside from that it seems a bit pointless.

I'm guessing because 18 is when you are legally an adult. That's the only thing I have been able to come up with.

It's because 18 is the adult age. There are fees that are paid for licenses/insurance if shows are open to all ages to help cover lawsuits and such that may arise from something happening to a minor (under 18) at the show. So generally 18+ shows are cheaper for venues/artists.

I simplest terms, liability and $$$.

Also most states have a curfew time for minors stating that they must be in their homes unless guided by a parent or guardian.

But I don't like the restriction either haha.

That's the main thing I think is curfew times.

For example I saw Anvil on a Tuesday night at a 17+ show. 16 and under curfew is 10pm I think and Anvil didn't start until like 11:15. So I think maining age restricting shows are age limits.

Or if the venue is just like a bar really.

That's what I was looking for. Interesting! Up here there's no differences in liability unless it has to do with alcohol-purchasing-age.

Also, what the fuck? Curfew? That seems ridiculously archaic. But today I learned. I now feel slightly more bad for my metal neighbors to the south .

Looking forward to seeing the rest of these Alcest dates though.

Deafheaven just posted and said these are the full dates for Alcest/Deafheaven.

03.20.2012 New Orleans, LA - Big Top
03.21.2012 Tampa, FL - Crowbar
03.22.2012 Orlando, FL - Willís Pub
03.23.2012 Atlanta, GA - 529
03.24.2012 Johnson City, TN - The Hideaway
03.26.2012 Raleigh, NC - Kings
03.27.2012 Richmond, VA - Strange Matter

03.29.2012 Washington DC - DC9
03.30.2012 Philadelphia, PA - Northstar Bar

Either that means that Alcest isn't even hitting the midwest or west coast on this tour, OR Deafheaven is only doing the east coast leg?
