That Hate Eternal album cover is just so hilariously bad. Like one of those "Learn to Draw Demons" books you might find in the kids section of a public library around Halloween.

Definitely, I'm quite glad it doesn't altogether represent the albums contents!

Eric Rutan produced the last two Cannibal Corpse albums and also the new one they are working on now, so he does have a hand in what they're putting out.

Oh yeah I know, and production wise those albums are top notch, but song-writing wise they are a little bland, in my opinion at least.

I have a friend who loves that Hugh Laurie album. I kinda see how it's good but I can't get into it. Either way, props to you for not dismissing someone who's known for doing non-musical things... and props to Hugh Laurie for being multi-talented.

17. Evile - Five Serpent's Teeth
![]() After Infected Nations, I had all but forgotten about Evile, so when this record was due, I didn't really care to pay attention. Then I seen the video for Cult. Cult showed a band on the attack, a band taking no prisoner's, a band actually doing something worth listening to. I sought out the record as soon as it came out, and my jaw dropped. The song-writing, soloing, riffing, it's all been stepped up in leaps and bounds since Infected Nations. From the dual guitar solo of Centurion to the melodic break of Xaraya, this is a band doing something promising with the thrash movement, instead of just re-hashing old ideas. Of course, since they lost Mike Alexander last year, there is a direct tribute to him, but the band seem to have used the emotional fuel from his death to create something he would have been proud of, and I certainly would agree with that sentiment. This is as close to ....And Justice For All as I think we're going to get, and if you want to see the future of thrash, I think between Evile and Vektor, we're safe! 16. November's Doom - Aphotic
![]() I only developed a taste for Doom in the last year, and this record has a lot to do with that. It was simply a style of music I had not fully immersed myself in or explored, due to hearing some of the wrong bands in the wrong setting. This record really changed that, it was the gateway to me understanding Doom metal, and as such it was set in stone it would be one of my favorite records of the year. This is a truly gargantuan release, November's Doom have it all it seems, pounding rhythm's, awesome harmonies, and the contrast between the growled and cleaner vocals is incredibly well done, it doesn't sound as forced as some other bands make it sound. I don't know enough about Doom to feel confident enough to write much more about this, so I'll just say to check it out and leave it at that!
