I don't know why people bother, in the past 22 years they've done 4 albums, an EP, and a box set of old material

Doesn't a statement from Tool stating "no new album in 2013" pretty much confirm that the album will be out next week?

no new album, no U.S tour. Well then that takes care of that. This thread is pretty much dead to me now..

I haven't seen Tool in concert since 2006 during their 100000 days tour at the Staple Center in Los Angeles. I believe I attended the First night if I'm not wrong(they played two shows at the staple center). My minds a little vague on this one seeing how it was fucking seven years ago when I saw this tour...damn I was still in High school when I saw them. Time flies by...

I haven't seen them since 2002 and I doubt I ever will again unless it's on a package tour. I was super-obsessed with them back then, but 10,000 Days left me cold and I really got burned out on them during my days of intense fandom. Now all of the mysticism and mysteriousness around them feels sillier than it does compelling

Because the music is compelling, and seems to have a lot of meaning for people. I'd rather them only put out 4 albms than spam the market with 8 or 10 records that are only so-so (i.e. pretty much what Maynard is doing with Puscifer).

I'm also not convinced they're not lying. Tool has an interesting relationship with their fans. Hell, on the last tour they opened up with a song blasting the fans who were hounding them for new material, and all of the tour t-shirts had schools of fish on them. I wouldn't be surprised if a new album comes in August or so.

Guess I shouldn't complain getting to see them in 2010 then? I'm totally on board w/ the statement that says they'll probably have an album out by August. Maynard likes to fuck around w/ people in interviews anyway. Nothing he says about future plans can be taken very seriously anyway. I enjoy hearing interviews from him but I never take what he says seriously. Anybody who does hasn't been paying attention for the last several years. I think thats part of what makes Tool, Tool.

I love how Tool fuck with people. Most of their rock-radio fans don't even get that they're getting made fun of.

This, saw them once in 2001 and truthfully haven't been that interested in seeing them again, plus they've become the band radio rock fans brag about liking
