Everyone knows that Boise, Idaho is a mecca of hip hop so it was absolutely no surprise that Deltron came to town on their current tour. The Knitting Factory (capacity 999) was mostly full, further enhancing my town's hip hop cred. White people got rhythm!

I had no idea what to expect from this show as I had never been to a hip hop show before. A friend of mine had turned me on to the 3030 CD I don't know how many years ago and I went to this show as much out of curiosity as anything else. The show started with an hour DJ set by Kid Koala which you should feel free to miss if you go to see this show. He really ended his set with a remix of Moon river, a moldy oldie even to someone as old as me and I wasn't the only one to be glad when it ended.

Deltron's traveling band also has a guitarist, drummer, and bassist to accompany the 3 members of the group. In a way this was bad, as the terrible acoustics here had the drums overwhelm Del's voice a lot so a lot of his lyrics were difficult to hear. I have had this problem hearing lyrics a lot at this venue but it's basically the only venue in town. The crowd helped out and I was surprised at how many people knew all the words to the songs.

I was somewhat disappointed that there were no spacey visuals or anything to accompany the 3030 concept more but a fun time was had by all. Another disappointment was me not getting more of a contact high. My favorite parts of the show were Virus and the opening 3030 track. Definitely a fun evening, check this out if it comes near you, even if it's not metal.
10-26 King Diamond
11-8 Deltron 3030
11-21 Judas Priest
4-22 Nightwish
