uh, settle down man. I don't think I've heard a single person say that this album was bad in any way. Hell, this is definitely in my top 5 favorite releases this year.

This. This will probably show up in my top 10 when ever I get around to making one. I don't think A Shrine to Madness is the best song though. I think The Window is my favorite.

I don't get why some tr00 metalheads say old Bodom is real metal but BDM isn't. Maybe it's the fact that a lot of BDM shirts are pretty scene looking. My first impression of BDM was that they're probably a shitty deathcore band but when I actually listened to their music I was surprised.

I don't think anyone on this forum out and out bashes BDM. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of fans here (including me). Where have you been?

I thing you might have jumped the gun think your going to get flamed about BDM. They really aren't hated here at all. There are a lot of BDM fans here (myself included obviously) and I wouldn't be shocked if Ritual made the site's top 20 (maybe 10 if it can get enough of a push).

But seriously, to what extent is TBDM accepted by the metal community?

BDM's fanbase is confusing. A lot of old-school death metal fans like them, a lot of people that like more underground bands like them, and a lot of scene kids like them. They are pretty much the death metal band that everyone from across the extreme metal spectrum likes.

I hear what you're saying about them not really being accepted by the kvlt crowd and I think some people incorrectly lump them into the metalcore scene but I won't apologize for liking them.

This used to be my #2, actually. But last week I gave it a spin for the first time in a couple of months and I forgot what I loved about it. Still pretty killer, though. I don't really know how to explain the sound - maybe avant-garde doom/atmospheric sludge with a heavy dose of psychedelia? I mean, it's fucking Bruce Lamont, people. He's the master of putting the weird in metal. Or something.
Also, people like to describe the sound as Swans meets Neurosis. I guess I can see that.

All I can say is that album is some of the most epic, powerful music to hit my ears... like, ever. Even if you're not a fan of this style of music, give it a listen. I'm definitely not a fan but this still captivated me beyond words.

Fallen
Slave Rule
Incredible. Fucking. Album.

EDIT: You don't exactly sell that fact like a motherfucker, but still. Glad you liked it a lot.

YES. This is the first album we really agree on. It's way the fuck up on my list as well.

EDIT: Regarding the argument at hand, I'm an Avenged Sevenfold fan and they have one of the most detestable fan bases of any band ever
