Book of Black Earth - This Cold Testament


I'm sure this album flew over most of your guys' heads. Very solid Behemoth-style blackened death metal. They sound a lot like Behemoth but at the same time they're really different. On a couple songs they take a pretty crusty approach, but that's not the norm. Overall, though, I just really like their approach to songwriting and they can write a damn good song despite sounding almost exactly like Behemoth. But, hey, at least they're not Hate.

Krisiun - The Great Execution


Before I downloaded this album, I had heard a couple Krisiun songs and loved them. Never got around to downloading any of their albums until this one, though (so I can't say to what extent this one ranks next to their old ones). I'm glad I did. Krisiun's style of death metal is outstanding and fairly unique, I gotta say. I dunno what sets them apart from other death metal bands, but I like them a lot more than their contemporaries, so that's gotta count for something, right?

If I only have one qualm about this album, it's the length of it. C'mon man, 10 songs in over an hour? The songs themselves don't stick out that much from another so this is a big no-no in my book. Either way, this is some fantastic death metal and I'd urge all death metal fans to check it out.

I'm going to have to download this one. I saw BOBE twice over a weekend in 2009. They played with Amebix on Friday, then played with Cattle Decapitation and Psyopus on Sunday. I forgot about them until now.

Sounds like a solid concert weekend. My friend's band opened for Psyopus and while he said they're completely unlistenable on record, they're sick live.

Not a fan of Murder Construct. I don't really like brutal death/deathgrind that much, honestly.

...That's weird, I just looked at their last.fm and most of their similar artists are straight-up grindcore Maybe another listen is in order?

Well they definitely sound like Exhumed with Cattle Decap vocals. I guess they finished recording the new album and it supposedly sounds faster than the first release.
