The biggest pleasant surprise to me was Mary Timony's guitar. Carrie Brownstein is hands down one of my favorite guitarists, and Corin Tucker always took a back seat to her, guitar-wise, in S-K... so to hear Timony's guitar lines holding their own with Brownstein's is great, and really enriches the sound.

I wasn't familiar at all with her previous work (Helium, and a few solo albums), but yeah, she's amazing. She completely blew me away when I saw them live, especially in the extended jam sessions during "Glass Tambourine" and "Racehorse." And seeing Janet's drumming in person was just fucking incredible.

As someone who likes Wu-Tang Clan and Fugazi but hates every mashup act I've ever heard, should I check out 13 Chambers?
