Don't forget about her work in Amber Asylum, which isn't metal, but it's damn sexy just the same.

13. Orchid - Capricorn

If you're the type of person who felt Black Sabbath died after Ozzy left, this is for you. Orchid play pure unadulterated sabbath worship of the highest order. The riffs, solos, bass work, vocals melodies all could have come from a long lost sabbath record from '70-'75. Highlights include opener "Eyes Behind The Wall", and "He Who Walks Alone" with their catchy choruses that will be stuck in your head for days. Also Into The Void and Symptoms of the Universe like heaviness that are the songs "Down Into The Earth" and "Cosmonaut of Three".

12. Russian Circles - Empros

Everything comes together for Russian Circles on their fourth full length. While their other albums were good, they suffered from the monotony most post-rock/metal does. On Empros they change that by adding levels of aggression and unpredictability not associated within their genre. From the intense blackend opening track "309" to the almost sludgy Baroness like (Red Album) "Mladek" and "Batu". All the way to the droning acoustic finale, it's a thrilling ride. That makes for the best Post-Metal record since Isis's Oceanic.

11. Disma - Towards The Megalith

Death Metal, I feel is a genre that has become completely stagnant and lifeless. With most bands trying to outdo each other, with how technical they are. Or how fast, brutal, and heavy they play. Completely forgoing what really matters quality songwriting, they end up with albums where the memorable moments are little to none. In comes Disma, a five piece from New Jersery. That with their debut full length sound completely old school but at the same time have a huge modern touch. The guitars are constantly in motion, moving and swarming around the huge rhythm section. Craig Pillard's vocals that while being so inhumanly low are entirely intelligible, giving the already murky atmosphere of the music that much more. Each song is a highlight, bringing what I believe is the closest a death metal band can get to a modern classic.

Good to see Russian Circles and Batillus. Saw Batillus live and I enjoyed them quite a bit. Unfortunately the pa was blown by the time Atlas Moth came on which is a shame because their new album is excellent and I was looking forward to seeing those songs live.

Brilliant album. I love how sludgy this is.
