Foo Fighters -- New York, NY -- November 13th, 2011

Bridge Burning
The Pretender
My Hero
Learn to Fly
White Limo
Cold Day in the Sun
Stacked Actors
Monkey Wrench
Let It Die
These Days
This is a Call
In the Flesh? (Pink Floyd cover)
All My Life
Wheels (Grohl Solo Acoustic)
Best of You (Grohl Solo Acoustic)
Times Like These (Grohl Solo Acoustic segued into full band electric performance)
Dear Rosemary (with Bob Mould)
Breakdown (Tom Petty cover; with Bob Mould)

I luckily timed my arrival perfectly and missed Social D (except for that annoying cover of Ring of Fire) bc well...fuck that band, theyre the fucking worst and ive never understood why people like them. I find his singing style very annoying and droney. The singer seems like a good dude and it's nice to see them have so much longevity, but the whole americana/punk thing doesnt work for me at all. missed Joy Formidable too but i know nothing about them.

So, same setlist as every other night of the tour except what I bolded. Ive been a Joan Jett fan since i was 9 years old and ordered the Up Your Alley casette from Columbia House. I flipped out when she came out. Their performance of Bad Reputation kicked so much ass. What a nice surprise.

Their stage setup and light show was very cool. Lot of diff. effects throughout the night. Grohl was hilarious as usual, esp. the prerecorded backstage video before the encore (no way that was live and legit).

The song choices were ok i guess. All the material from the new album was great, esp. Bridge Burning and White Limo, which is def. the heaviest song they've ever recorded, right? I can't recall anything heavier. The problem to me was all the unnecessary extended jams/crowd participation/singalong parts on alot of the material. They were out there for over 2.5 hours, but they could have played 3 or 4 more songs at least if they just stopped with all that stuff. I think alot of people would much rather hear something cool and rare like February Stars, Alone+Easy Target, Marigold, Wattershed or other old stuff than more time wasted by Grohl running around trying to get the crowd to scream more. or that silly guitar-off they had....ugh.

I'd also say at this point they could dump Times Like These or Best of You. I know it's an arena show and people want the hits, but fuck them, plus you already changed it up by going acoustic.

Also, Foo Fighters merch has always been shit, and tonight was no different, but their t-shirts were only $25, which is the cheapest i've seen at an arena show since i was in HS. they're making maybe $5 profit tops from each shirt, probably less. nice to see that they dont need to gouge their fans like so many other bands do nowadays.

what'd everybody else think?

Wow, those first 6 songs are quite the start to a show.

Bad Reputation is a Joan Jett song, not Runaways.
