Jimmy Gnecco, Singer of Ours, Joins Velvet Revolver

This is kind of shocking for me and other Ours fans actually, to actually believe given how much we want Jimmy do his own music, or at least collaborations with artists that share some things in common with Ours (like Neverending White Lights for example, who Jimmy has worked with on both of their albums).

But Velvet Revolver? I guess Slash and Jimmy have known (or been friends) with one-another for quite awhile. And I also have heard they have wanted to have Jimmy sing for them for many years, but every time they asked he said no. A few months ago Jimmy's band and VR ended up performing at this benefit called Road Recovery. VR asked Jimmy to sing with them and it led to them talking more and Slash and Duff McKagan were quoted as being interested in writing new music with a singer they performed with at Road Recovery.

I guess the Silver Lining to me as an Ours and Jimmy Gnecco fan is it could lead to a lot more exposure and mainstream interest in Ours and Jimmy. And the hope is that Jimmy's agreed to do this with the agreement that it won't compromise his own music, or this new project he's working on called Weathervane with one of the ex-members of A-Ha.

But from a musical standpoint, I'm personally not all that thrilled with their music. To me they sound like a Bar Band basically with some of the grunge element (Scott Weiland probably had a lot to do with that). But if Jimmy is involved in the writing, perhaps my interest will be higher.

My reaction to this is that of Calculon's: I'm not familiar with the type of thing I'm seeing.

I love Ours, and VT's first album was good. I'm cautiously interested in what is going to happen with this. I hope if anything, Ours becomes bigger from this.

Some random band that opened for Marilyn Manson on the 2008 tour when Twiggy was back

Well I kinda figured this would happen, as to why no one commented on them.

Picture a darker version of dredg, and you have Ours. WHen they opned for Marilyn Manson, it was a huge mistake. Like Megadeth opening for Disturbed and Godsmack.

I knew the name sounded familiar. I saw them when this tour went through austin. They got boo'd so bad. I can't remember what the singer told the crowd, but he definitely didn't like being boo'd so much. They had a very emo sound to them from what i remember. This was also one of the best manson shows ive seen, and by far the best i've seen in the past 7-8 years. The setlist was awesome and everyone sounded great.

OK, so just listened to some Ours songs. They don't suck, but if that's what they wanted, why not just get the actual Stabbing Westward singer?
