Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience -- Englewood, N.J. -- October 27th, 2011

Jason Bonhamís Led Zeppelin Experience at Bergen PAC, Englewood, N.J. on October 27, 2011

After 2 evenings of Ace Frehley in Times Square, I ventured out to the "suburbs" with a buddy of mine for another history lesson. Let me just say for the record, anyone who is even a mild Led Zeppelin fan, will LOVE this show, (I admit I am not the expert), and if you're hardcore Zeppelin, you will LOSE YOUR MIND!

The guys playing with Bonham are so freaking good, if you close your eyes, I promise you, you'll think its 1975. And thatís what this show is about!!!! Bringing the classic Zeppelin material to the fans who want to hear it. Is it a tribute band? Sure, I guess, but its obviously the best one in the world!

I'm sorry I don't know the band members names, they were intro'd, and i cant find their info on the net, but....The guitar player is sooooooooo ridiculous! Heís been with Bonham a while I think, he looks familiar, help me out people. He played every freakin' song note for note. I was speechless. I can't put into words how impressed I was with his playing. The style, the mimicry, the technique,... just unbelieveable. He used the metal slide on the frets perfectly, used the violin bow during dazed and confused. Almost every song was played on a Les Paul, except for Kashmir, and he of course, has a red double neck SG for Stairway. I wish I had more notes but I was so into the show, I just forgot to scribble.

Bass player also excellent, singer very good, and he played some rhythm acoustic guitar as well, he hits all the notes, and thatís what counts. There is also another guy, playing keyboards, and sometimes backing guitars, metal slide, and other things.

Bonham himself, absolutely pounded his kit. He's really a very good drummer, I forgot he was once in "Steel Dragon". LOL He played a great Moby Dick with his dad's track at the same time. Had Zildjian cymbols all around and a Zildjian gong! I dont think he even hit it once though, now that I think about it???

Of course there's home videos, played above, and psychadelic imagery projected sometimes. Bonham talks quite a bit to the crowd and tells stories. After all, this is a tribute to his dad, and a history lesson, and a true Led Zeppelin experience. Seems he's gonna keep this going and change the set from tour to tour, he kept hinting at how many songs he wants to play live, that never got played back in the day, etc.

Bottom line. This is as close as it gets people. 5 stars, highly recommended!
See this tour! Go support live music! Heavy Metal 101

Apparently Mike Portnoy was at this show as well.

That is a hell of a setlist!

Jason Bonham is a great drummer. I saw him when he was UFO's drummer and he just pounded those drums just like his dad!

It was a hell of a concert.
I heard Portnoy was there,... as a fan!

I'm glad I have a day to clear my head, watch game 7, and get psyched for Danzig Legacy Tour Saturday.
