Eh, I really like my iPod, and I learned to not hate iMacs. I don't know much about the guy, certainly don't view him as some innovative genius, but he certainly does command respect. R.I.P.

RIP to one of the most visionary technological minds of our time. Not a fan of Macs but I definitely respect what he has done in his career (and the ipod)

I really do love my ipod. The two that I've had have lasted me for nearly 7 years too. It's a shame that he died so young.

Damn, didn't hear about this until this morning. Had no idea he was even ill. And way too young.

I'm with Cameron. Yeah Apple basically led the portable mp3 player revolution, but they ruined music collecting and managed to create the biggest elitist clique in the world without actually making the best products on the market. The fact that most people think "iPod" is what any portable mp3 player is called and don't even realise there are others is at once sad, and one of Apple's biggest achievements.

The dude achieved a hell of a lot in a short space of time, though. Certainly one of the most important technology CEOs of this generation.

This is exactly how I feel. I want people to know that I don't really have anything against Jobs, nor am I trying to be an asshole in the event of his death. But I hate Apple, and have for a long time now, in part because of everything you just said. The fact that this had to come on the same day that Microsoft discontinued Zune is just a massive blow to me.
