Same as the last one, good for what it is but I don't think I could ever listen to it regularly. I like the lead work in the middle.

Try the Blood Fire Death album, it's more accessible and still awesome.

Okay, I need some recommendations.

I like Alcest, Darkthrone (both crust/black), WITTR, Inquisition, Mayhem, Enslaved, Burzum, Anaal Nathrakh, Watain and Immortal. There are others too, but those are my favorites.

Go.

Bathory - Call From The Grave

Bathory (SWE)
"Call From The Grave"
Under The Sign Of The Black Mark (1987)

Of all the bands I'd consider part of the first wave of black metal, I'd say Bathory is the most "black metal" whereas the other bands helped influence black metal with more their lyrics and imagery. Quorthon was through and through black metal. His first four albums (including his foray into Viking Metal WHICH HE CREATED) are really amazing. Under The Sign of the Black Mark is my favorite of his black metal releases. RIP Quorthon.

Great fucking song. It's a perfect cross between arena rock and blasphemous lo-fi underground metal. Shit there could have been a music video for this of the band playing live in a stadium full of fans and it still would have been believable because of the feel of the song.

Yea, Under The Sign of The Black Mark is still the greatest black metal album ever.

Vertebrae Enslaved is completely different than Frost Enslaved.

The big exception would be Emperor I guess, but even then, they use symphonic elements to the extreme. I've never really been a Burzum or Mayhem fan, and the Darkthrone I like is when they went crust-punk.
DUDE. I used to exactly be that way. Now I'm a huge black metal-head. Just go with the flow man, it'll come to you eventually. I actually remember that I posted on here like a year/year and a half ago that I hated black metal, and Manks told me to get the fuck out
