Yeah no kidding. Even though Suffocation and Decrepit Birth dropped the Chicago date, that was still the best Summer Slaughter I've been to. Ensiferum were the best band live in my opinion.

I'm probably the only one that thinks 2011 was the best lineup, at least for me it was. 2009 had a pretty good lineup too though.

Good bands in 2007 - basically every single one save Beneath the Massacre:

Necrophagist, Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, The Faceless, As Blood Runs Black, Arsis, Ion Dissonance, Daath

Good bands in 2008 - every one but two:

TBDM, Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, The Faceless, Despised Icon, Aborted, Born of Osiris

Good bands in 2009 - all but FOUR now:

Necrophagist, Suffocation, Ensiferum, Dying Fetus, Born of Osiris, Origin, After the Burial, Decrepit Birth

Good bands in 2010 - getting better, all but two:

Decapitated, The Faceless, Veil Of Maya, Decrepit Birth, Cephalic Carnage, Animals as Leaders, Vital Remains

Good bands in 2011 - only five decent bands left, FIVE bands sucking major ass:

TBDM, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Powerglove

I think good Summer Slaughter lineups come in waves. Great one year, lackluster another. I actually thought this year's lineup was better than 2010, so we'll see what happens for 2012...

I thought the only bad bands this year were Oceano and Six Feet Under. I'm a big fan of As Blood Runs Black, TBDM, Whitechapel, and Darkest Hour. Fleshgod and Dying Fetus are pretty awesome. And Powerglove is a lot of fun live.

I'm still pissed I had to miss this year. Would have definitely been one of my top shows ever.

Don't forget that in 2009 Behemoth played a few of the shows instead of Suffocation.

I've been going since '08. 2009 was my favorite but I thought every year have been pretty good.
