Yeah man, very cool thread. The fact that many of these releases came out before you were born is even more impressive. My only beef with the Top 5 would be I don't really consider Coroner thrash. Maybe I'm wrong but they have too many slow songs and the songs I'm most familar with are slower.

You might want to check out Sadus also. Actually everyone should check out Sadus. The album Swallowed in Black will forever be one of my Top 10 albums of all time and they epotimize thrash to me. The song Certain Death off their 1st cd is incredible also.

Steve DiGiorgio is one of the most beastly bass players to ever live. Most people know his work with Death and Testament but I still rate his work with Sadus as his best. His did kick ass with Autopsy too though.

Unfortunately the only album I've heard by them is Out For Blood, which is very good, I think. I've been meaning to check out their older stuff for awhile now.

Ah cool. I was wondering how they could be missed. My bad. I lost track during all the Slayer debating and funny Metallica pictures. Yeah off the top of my head my Top 10 would be:

1) Slayer - Reign in Blood
2) Sadus - Swallowed in Black
3) Metallica - Kill Em All
4) Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
5) Slayer - Hell Awaits
6) Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
7) Testament - The New Order
8) Sodom - Persecution Mania
9) Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
10) Overkill - Taking Over

With Sacred Reich, Vio-lence, Vektor, Exhorder & Anthrax in the next tier. Pretty similar actually. I also think Flotsam & Jetsam wrote some great thrash songs. No Place for Disgrace and Doomsday for the Deceiver have some great songs.

Demo Hammer is actually my favorite thrash band but as much as all of my friends agree with you and praise EoV, I'm actually in love with Tortured Existence.

This si my favorite lyric:

Searing with the pain of ravaged world
Destined to collide
Struggle, in vain, to exist
Knowing you soon will die
Unable to accept, your forthcoming death
Burial a crime
Carbonizing cremation
Consummation horrified
Double insulated stainless tanks
Liquid nitrogen
Housed, within a concrete vault
Preservation capsule
Biological suspension
Sub-zero bloodless state
Hypodermic continment
Cryo-hybernate
If Tortured Existence had the same production as Epidemic of Violence, that may have taken over but who knows. The best I can do is watch the live videos of them performing TE songs back in like 1990-1991. It's a damn shame I can't find any videos of them in 1992-1993.

And thanks everyone, glad you all enjoyed it!

Wow, your #1 came out of left field for me, clearly! I've never listened to Demolition Hammer, but I obviously need to! Great list though, dude! Some glaring omissions and questionable picks as far as I'm concerned, but it ain't my list!

You'll listen to Epidemic of Violence and understand why it is a worthy #1 contender, even if it isn't yours. Simply one of the best thrash releases of all time.

You know what's funny is I own this cd and bought it for $1 in a budget bin and maybe listened to it once. Between the shitty artwork and the fact it had a hole punched through the case I really never gave it a shot. Funny how things like that influenced me but I own so many cd's that it got lost in a pile somehow. Same thing with Toxic actually. I'll have to give both a few listens and see if I really did have some gems right under my nose all these years.
