Clutch -- Columbus, OH -- July 29th, 2011
Mercury
Profits of Doom The Mob Goes Wild Subtle Hustle Freakonomics Texan Book of the Dead The Yeti The Devil and Me 50,000 Unstoppable Watts Struck Down Opening set for Flogging Molly, didn't actually stay for them although I wanted to because of the tornado/thunderstorm. Outdoor show, Clutch went on 45 minutes late and had to take a break after Freakonomics for another 45, it was already the time that FM were supposed to go on by the time they resumed their set. Whatever, Clutch are pretty much unstoppable even under poor circumstances. Hadn't seen Mercury, Subtle, or Freakonomics before, so even in an abbreviated opening set my seventh time seeing them, I got material I've never seen. Pretty amazing. Also interviewed Neil before the show - will post the article when it's live - yielding this pic:

Dude, you don't even look like you anymore
And that's saying a lot because I haven't even seen you in person either, just other pics.

Clutch amaze me. Total road warriors who rarely play the same set twice, and whose outright love for what they do just pours out of them live. If they are a fraction as good as the live footage I've seen, I need to see them headline a show very fucking soon.

Clutch having to play before Flogging Molly makes me sad in ways I didn't know possible.

^Same here, which is why I skipped the show. I just hate to see Clutch not headlining.

The casual fan in me loves that 50,000 Unstoppable Watts and The Mob Goes Wild are still in the set lately, but I can't help but wonder if that's the beginning of the end for hardcore fans because they used to never play the same song twice in two nights.
![]() And blurriness aside, that is a pretty sweet photo Brad.

I still wouldn't worry even w/ those songs in the set constantly. How often when Clutch does a new tour there is always an old tune or 2 that they break out of the vault? I've seen them 8x and every headlining set I always come away seeing atleast a song or 2 I'd never seen before. May not be as true for support sets but usually for support sets they keep it more simple since its usually not their core fanbase and they are trying to get new fans. Just my 2 cents.
