Arrow This date in your concert history...

Sort of a variation of the "Concerts Attended" thread, I don't mean specifically the date of this thread creation, just use everyday and anyday to post where you were back in _______ and who you saw.

July 17th is a popular date for some reason for shows, here's my history.

Metallica - Giants Stadium - 1998
Iron Maiden - Hammerstein Ballroom - 1999 - the two reunion shows!
Opeth/Porcupine Tree - Irving Plaza - 2003
Dokken/L.A. Guns - Mulcahy's - 2004
Twisted Sister/W.A.S.P./L.A. Guns/Stephen Pearcy/Metal Church - Brookhaven Amphitheatre - 2005
Gin Blossoms - John Burns Park - 2007
Daughtry/3 Doors Down - Jones Beach Amphitheater - 2013

So, are we just looking at out tickets stubs to remember the dates? Unless the show just happened, I couldn't tell you the day it happened on. I can tell you the year and what month but the exact date? No way.

July 21, 2005..... OZZFEST! My first metal festival and one of my first 10-15 shows ever. Me and my buddies had front pit tickets and I can remember being stoked beyond stoked. We were only 15-16 years old and being that close to Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath was mind blowing. My buddy and I had just gotten into Maiden hard earlier that school year and almost died when we found out they were coming here. We found out in school and started flipping haha. I also remember seeing the brutality of the Rob Zombie pit on the second stage and thinking to myself "DAMN THIS IS AWSOME!" The second stage was set up on a bunch of rocks so whenever someone fell in the pit they would usually wind up bleeding profusely; never had I seen anything like that before. Also being able to see the Dimebag tribute guitar display was absolutely killer; the Paul Booth guitar had a face coming out with nails pounded into it. I distinctly remember this show being the defining moment where I knew I was down with metal and metal concerts for life. It was like your first hit of a good drug; the chase was ON
7/18 - Eagles
7/29 - Slipknot
8/10 - Down
8/25 - Van Halen
9/18 - Gwar

Judas Priest/Dokken/Warrant/Ratt/Firehouse/L.A. Guns - Brookhaven Amphitheatre - 2002

This was the first show I went to when I arrived back from OCS/USMC training. I spent one night in Quantico, VA and they summarily sent me packing for being asthmatic. I wanted to go to flight school for USMC but that dream was shattered quickly.

Anyway, this was a killer lineup, I feel like things like this don't happen anymore much.

2011 - Exhumed w/ Cephalic Carnage - Origin hopped on just this show and filmed a music video (which has yet to come out?) and people invaded the stage and it was absolutely insane. Kinda cleared out after that and there weren't a ton of people for the last two bands. Kinda a shame. Great show though.

2010 - Black Cobra w/ Phobia, Howl - This really remains one of the greatest first-exposure introductions to a band I've ever had. Really one of the heaviest bands in existence, my jaw dropped after being right up against the stage for Black Cobra after initially going to the show just for Phobia. Again, the punx cleared out after Phobia played. Didn't really dig Howl that much, but I've liked them a lot more the subsequent times I've seen them.

2009 - Mayhem Fest. Slayer, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, TBDM, etc. Beer got spilled on the soundboard during Slayer and completely ruined their sound for about 75% of their set. It was honestly a fucking tragedy. I was really upset for a while because I thought that was going to be the last time I saw Slayer and it would've been with fucked up sound. Rest of the day was good - got Cannibal Corpse autographs. Drove up to Omaha the night before to see an off-date with Corpse/TBDM/Behemoth/God Forbid, then drove straight to the amphitheater here in Kansas that morning to see it all again.

I always feel pretty bad about going to shows on 7/21, because it's my Dad's birthday. Like, I could go see Primitive Man tonight, but I'd rather spend my Dad's birthday with him.
07/22 - Melt-Banana
07/26 - Forever Came Calling & Primitive Man
07/30 - Warped (?)
08/05 - Knockout Kid
08/07 - Fireworks (?)
