I like Megadeth's set here but it would be cool if they switched something up somewhere. But a lot of bands are just set in their ways when it comes to how they do their sets and no amount of complaining is gonna change that. If it did work, Megadeth would surely be doing something different by now. I still give them credit for doing all of RIP last year. That was a bold step for a band that is not known for taking too many with their sets.

That new song is terrible. Boring riff, boring guitar work, boring vocals. Totally sounds like a B-side leftover.
Playing that snorefest over This Day We Fight is Dave being Dave...

What bugs me is that Megadeth (and they aren't the only ones of course) pretty much pretend that a previous album doesn't exist when they do the new one for example:
When UA came out in 2007 they basically did not play anything off TSHF expect Kick the Chair When Endgame came out, the only UA song they would do was Washington is Next! and that was rare in itself Now following the trend when this new album is done, I bet the only Endgame they might touch is Head Crusher.... I get that 'Deth has a good amount of albums and they can't play them all, but imao System, UA and Endgame are great albums and just to forget them is a shame oh well that's the biz for ya

That new song sounds familiar.

Hang on, how are people complaining there aren't more Endgame songs? They're playing three songs from it nearly two years after it came out. That's MORE than enough.

Yeah I'm not really impressed either.... I read an interview with Mustaine, and he said that the new album is going to have some "leftovers" from previous albums. WTF

The new song, while not terrible is very boring. I was hopin for something along the lines of Sudden Death, which I thought was pretty solid. I hope this is one of those "leftover" songs cause it sounds like a B-Side from Cryptic or even Countdown.
At this point I have come to expect terrible setlists from them. At this point I think the only way I would go see them is on a Peace Sells tour, or on a double headliner with another band, or Big 4/Festival type deal. I'm not gonna pay to see them play about 50% songs that make me cringe or want to go to sleep.

and ... Choose your sides...Skin o' My Teeth Poison Was the Cure 1,320' She-Wolf How the Story Ends Angry Again Tornado of Souls A Tout Le Monde Public Enemy No. 1 Megadeth being my rotating Number 1 band, I am still very impressed with the sets they put out. Sure Endgame got the shaft and it's a great album, but it came out during a time of change for the band... Not like the fans are forgetting how good it was. But when most the set is great, how can you say they are making lame sets? I have never heard live Angry Again, How The Story Ends, or the New song... And every time I see them, there is a rotation of songs not heard on the last tour, so all is well for me as a big Megadeth fan. |
