I'm gonna try my hand at booking some shows, though. Never done it before but seems like a good time to try.

In fact, I may be feeling kind of ambitious but I want to start a Vermont Metal Fest or something. I'm thinking I'll have Revocation and Trap Them headline (they're both from New England) and the rest could be local bands from Vermont or surrounding states. Dunno if I'll have any luck.

It's a shame I got into Opeth a year too late. I was going to go to that show at the Wiltern but since the front pit sold out I decided not too. Had I been as into them as I am now I would've bought tickets as soon as possible.

I'm sure it was as amazing as Amon Amarth's "An Evening With..." shows have been.

I bet even more so! Blackwater Park is my favorite record of all time; I would have killed to be able to see it in its entirety.

I was last there a year ago. It's okay - the sound is pretty hit-or-miss. There's a nice, big floor area, and then there are places in the back where you can sit or grab a drink.

The cons: it can get wicked hot in there (I believe it hit 120 F indoors for the Fates Warning show last year), and it's really not in a good section of town. :/

where's a good place to start listening to Opeth? I've been listening to random songs off YouTube, but should I just go Chronological?

I highly, HIGHLY recommend Ghost Reveries first. Blackwater Park is a little dense at first, even though I consider it their best.

Ghost Reveries was what put this band on my radar a few years ago, and then Blackwater Park sealed the deal recently. Watershed I think is also an easier album to digest compared to their other works.
