Miasmal -- Atlanta, GA -- May 31st, 2011
This show was announced MONTHS ago, and the lineup was absolutely killer: Miasmal/Mammoth Grinder/Hatred Surge/Innumerable Forms. Unfortunately Mammoth Grinder and Hatred Surge dropped off. Shame, those two are great. Check out their split this year if you haven't; it's sick.
Anyways this show was at a art gallery/community century shithole. You know, the places where underground bands usually play. The room was small as hell, with very low ceilings. Very stuffy, too - I was sweating my balls off the whole time. The first band to play was some local act called Disfigurement. They played pretty good black/death, some cool riffs to boot. They did a solid cover of Deicide's "When Satan Rules His World." I don't know the original, though, so I can't say much more than that. Next was Innumerable Forms. These guys just put out an EP. I didn't really get into it, just sounded like your everyday death metal to me. But they were soooo good live. They did a cover of Master's "Funeral Bitch" which was amazing. Pisses me off that they only played 10 minutes though. Then Miasmal came on. They were decent. These guys play crusty Swedish death metal. I've only listened to their record once, but it sounded pretty damn heavy to me and not really that crusty. However, they sounded so much punkier live. Not necessarily a good thing They did have a couple pretty heavy songs, though, which had me banging my head. Still, I'm pissed that they only played 30 minutes, if that. They've got roughly an hour of material to play. Bastards On a side note, it was hilarious when the moshers tripped over the guy's pedals and microphone ![]() So, worth the 5 dollar admission... but not worth the $50 I could have made at work tonight

Ouch, man! I wouldn't have missed work for a show like that.
What sucks the most is that Mammoth Grinder didn't play! They're fantastic. |

I actually think that sounds amazing, I'd take it any day over the standard club show.
Miasmal rule, I wish I could have caught one of their dates out here. If a band like that is touring in a situation where most of the shows will be opening, and the "highlights" of the tour are festivals where they get a 20-25 minute slot, I'm not surprised at all that they only have a 30 minute rehearsed set. It would be kind of a waste to learn double that (as cool as it would have been to see) so I'm not surprised at all. And they do have the guitarist from Martyrdod, so crusty-ness wouldn't surprise me

It actually was a cool place to see a show, very very intimate. I just wish it wasn't so goddamn hot inside.
and that makes sense Dayan.
