Murder Junkies -- Berkeley, CA -- May 21st, 2011

Fantastic show at Gilman, which I'm still baffled over (the bands that played were quite the opposite of Gilman's traditional politics etc.)
Guantanamo Dogpile were the first band, they played in the store area which is probably the smallest place I've ever seen a band play. Badass set, sadly only myself and four of my friends really got into it, but they threw trash and plastic everywhere to add to the mayhem. At one point the guitarist sprayed hot sauce on us which burned, it was pretty funny. Caught a shirt at the end. Ive never heard any of their music before, but I know they did a cover of Fuck the Middle East and at the end played Bite It You Scum, which actually got lots more people jammed in the small room (they tried to get Merle to come in and sing but he sadly refused.)
We got locked outside during the next band which was some country/bluegrass thing, can't say I really minded missing it.
Fukm were next and they were pretty entertaining punk stuff, although their set was a bit long (especially considering the shortness of the Murder Junkies.) They ended with a Green Jello cover (dunno which song) and an Ace of Spades cover.
The last opening band were Hammerlock, who played catchy punk in the RAC vein (anti-communist/socialist shit everywhere.) The guitarist and bassist were married and had their daughter come out and smash an acoustic guitar during their last song. Was somewhat cute I suppose. The whole thing lasted less than 15 minutes and was probably only 3 or 4 songs.
The only disappointing thing about the Murder Junkies was their set length, and the fact that half the people left before they got on so they played to roughly 20 people, which was a really small crowd even for a seedy punk show. I expected everyone to get into it, especially with the GG songs, but it was not even that energetic of a crowd. Dino did play naked, which prompted some crowd member to get naked on stage too, and at the end shoved both drum sticks up his ass, as well as some chick who got on stage with him. Shitty crowd, awesome show, all of the Murder Junkies were super nice people too.

That sucks the set was so short. I guess they must be fed up with playing to no one so they cut it short depending on how many people show up?

Theres plenty of videos and shit of him doing this, if I video pops up of this gig you'll see, although I don't think anyone filmed it. He really rams it up his ass, from what I could see he didnt nearly go that extent with her (she was facing the crowd), but still.
