That sucks

I thought they were great both times I've seen 'em, but hey, to each his own.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them with Francesco at guitar. He's incredible; definitely adds a new element to the band.

Dying Fetus
Killing on Adrenaline
1998

Ahh, 'Killing on Adrenaline'. Pure deathgrind perfection. From John's opening growls on the title track, all the way through the brutal closer 'Intentional Manslaughter', this album induces headches and MCI's to even the healthiest of metal heads

The title track is pure brutality and technicality rolled into just.......perfection, I guess. I often find myself listening to the first few minutes of this tune a couple times before moving on. Once I finally do so, 'Procreate the Malformed' picks up right where track 1 left off. A 7 minute death metal tune it is. I would usually call doo-doo "let's repeat everything 3 times" BS for this track, but that's not the case. While I think some of DF's lyrics are pretentious and over the top anti-establishment political BS, I actually like the lyrics on this album. Live staple 'Kill Your Mother/Rape Your Dog' is a funny 'fuck the mainstream' sorta thing in the middle, and the final track 'Intentional Manslaughter' battles for my favorite DF song. Really groovy and catchy throughout, and has one the best breakdowns EVER. Anyone who can't dig that breakdownn should kill themselves, or go listen to some gay ass tech-wank shit.

Standout Tracks
Killing an Adrenaline
Intentional Manslaughter

I predicted them! Just the wrong album

but yeah, I hate tech-death for the most part, but this is a good album! I don't like their later stuff but this album is them at their best, for sure.

I loved of War of Attrition, but I was disappointed w/ Descend into Depravity.

It's the other way around for me. I thought War of Attrition aside from a couple songs was their weakest, and I thought Descend into Depravity was their best since Destroy the Opposition.

Killing on Adrenaline is a great album. That and Destroy the Opposition was Dying Fetus at their best.

Cannibal Corpse
The Bleeding
1994

Chris Barnes' last album with CC saw a bit of a different direction for the arguably greatest death metal band in the world. More decipheral, less gutteral vocals, more technical guitar and bass work, and shorter verses. These changes led to Cannibal Corpse's greatest, most popular album. Well, a lot of people think that. Great solos, rythyms, drumming, vocals, and continuing brutal lyrics blend together perfectly to create a true death metal classic.

The opening 'Staring Through the Eyes of The Dead' is a slow(ish) song for CC, which opens with an eery string bending rythym and is book marked w/ a Slayer-esque guitar solo battle by Jack Owen and Rob Barrett. 'Fucked w/ a Knife' is a brutally fast and quick number w/ some of my favorite lyrics of all time. "stick it in, rip the skin, carve and twist, torn flesh. From behind, I cut her crotch, in her ass, I stuck my cock. Killing as I cum." Haha, I love Barnes' lyrics. Track 3 is my favorite death metal song of all time. 'Stripped, Raped and Strangled' is a simply amazing song. The 1/64 riffs (not a guitar whizz, not sure if I wrote it correctly) shortly into the intro are so awesome. It has fast parts, slower choruses, and a sick intro and outro. Just great all around! One of the few death metal songs I think one can honestly call beautiful! The middle of the album has a couple good tunes like 'Pulverized' and 'She Was Asking For It'. Nothing spectacular, but nothing weak. The title track kicks in #8, and has an amazing, groovy rythym. Alex Websters' bass is especially sick in this tune, he hits some really solid higher notes. 'An Experiment in Homicide' is another great track at the end. An album I can listen to from beginning to end more than once on a road trip. While I have grown to prefer Corpsegrinder to Barnes', Barnes helped to make one of the most amazing death metal albums in history before his unfortunate departure from the band.

Standout Tracks

Fucked w/ a Knife
Stripped, Raped and Strangled - shamelessly promoting my own vid

Oh shit, I'm listening to that for the first time right now. What a coincidence.

I should've listened to this a long time ago, it's fucking awesome.
