Between the Buried and Me -- Toledo, OH -- April 22nd, 2011
Venue: Headliners
Source: Me The Ocean: Anthropocentric The Grand Inquisitor I: Karamazov Baseness The First Commandment Of The Luminaries Orosirian The Origin Of Species The Origin Of God Between the Buried and Me: Specular Reflection Augment of Rebirth Lunar Wilderness Sun of Nothing Ants of the Sky Guitar Solo/Swim to the Moon jam/Drum Solo Fossil Genera - A Feed From Cloud Mountain ------- Selkies - The Endless Obsession Awesome set! The Ocean was heavy as fuck and BTBAM was tight all night long. The Swim to the Moon jam was awesome. The guitar solo was actually a mix between "Reaction" and "Veridian" with a fat solo stuck right in the middle. Very inventive and cool. I was kinda hoping for White Walls, but when Blake was yelling before the encore that it was hot as fuck in the club, I figured they would opt for the shorter encore. I keep forgetting the Ocean are playing first, meaning I'll have to sit through JFAC...

The Ocean played in second, after JFAC, in Montreal... I don't know why the order changed, but I would have like to see JFAC in second instead of The Ocean...

Thanks for posting, although I had very mixed feeling upon reading this.
I actually showed up for this show, but thanks to some bad info provided by some dingbat chick on the phone who apparently didn't even work for the venue, I arrived just in time to see BTBAM. In other words, I missed The Ocean - who was the band I had actually driven almost two hours to see - by a fucking mile. Thanks, idiot bitch. Needless to say, I fucking left. Then, as a consolation prize, I decided to head up to Detroit with my buddy and my brother to play some poker. I was up about a hundred bucks at one point, but by the time I left I was getting my fucking clock cleaned. That's a weekend I'd just as soon fucking forget. ![]() Anyway, glad you had a good time. Seems like a pretty good set from The Ocean, albeit a little short (which is completely understandable given their position on the bill, which is just fucking criminal in my mind). I would have thunk they'd have played Shamayim / Firmament, though. At least you got to hear The Origin of Species / The Origin of God, though. That's got to be one of the best things they've ever done.

I was waiting for you to say that. Chances are, If I'd seen them live before, I probably would have stayed, because I'd probably have been impressed. As it was, I was pissed about having made the drive for nothing, essentially, and I had little reason to stay (in my mind), plus, neither my brother nor my buddy were interested in BTBAM at all, so I would have felt like I was forcing my opinion on them. I actually lobbied for us to stay for a second, but when I could see they weren't interested I just said fuck it.
