It's part of the aesthetic package. It can't make a bad album good or a good album bad, but it can certainly be a solidifying factor in what makes something a real masterpiece.

Also, I've seen a pretty high amount of shitty album covers this year, and the fact that this one is coming from one of my favorite bands just makes it worse.
