RIP Matt Laporte (Jon Oliva's Pain)
Source: http://www.bravewords.com/news/160511
"News is still coming in, but JON OLIVA's PAIN guitarist and collaborator with many a Florida based metal outfit, guitarist Matt LaPorte has passed away. CIRCLE II CIRCLE bassist Mitch Stewart referenced the unfortunate event on his Facebook page. More information as it becomes available. " I wish I could say I'm surprised, but sadly I am not. Nevertheless, this is a damn shame. Matt was an amazing guitarist, the closest we'll ever see to a second Criss Oliva. Very proud to say I've met him, seen him play live, and even shared the stage with him within the same night. RIP.

This news really brought my night down, but I'll be playing Jon Olivia's Pain in his honor.

Agreed, I really can't say I'm surprised. One of the few guys around who looked less healthy than Jon himself.

This is very sad. He was an amazing guitarist. When I saw Jon Oliva's Pain we were in the very front against the stage, and we were on his/Jon's side. Truly some of the best performances I've ever seen.

R.I.P. was an absolutely massively underrated guitarist.
