Clutch -- Austin, TX -- March 8th, 2011
Venue: Stubbs BBQ
Gravel Road  Child of the City Nuevo Riffs 50k Unstoppable Watts Struck Down Cypress Grove with extended jam Hobgoblins Open Up the Border  The Soapmakers with extended jam and drum solo Immortal A great performance from Clutch. The show was sold out and Stubbs was packed. I think the crowd had the biggest reactions to the songs from Strange Cousins. Neil introduced the new song by saying "this is a work in progress". He played guitar on it and there were no lyrics at this point but it sounded like more of a Clutch song than a Bakerton Group song. I was kind of expecting them to play Texan Book of the Dead, but maybe that was a dumb expectation. Besides Neil they really don't have a hell of a lot of stage presence, but when they rock out the music speaks for itself. I have yet to be disappointed by a Clutch show and this was no exception.

I had a great time at this show. It was my first time seeing Valient Thorr and I was impressed. I'd definitely like to see them again live. Clutch sounded great and I can't wait for a headlining tour to hit these parts. I stayed for about half of Motorhead's set. For whatever reason I never really listened to Motorhead, but it was really cool to see them live.

This was my first Clutch show and it was pretty good. I hadn't heard much about them before, but I'll probably check out more of their stuff. I also picked up a setlist from the soundboard after their show and it says:
GRAVEL RD CHILD OF THE CITY NUEVO RIFFS 50,000 STRUCK DOWN CYPRESS HOBGOBLINS--6/8 BORDER SOAPMAKERS IMMORTAL If anyone has Motorhead's setlist, I'd appreciate it.
