As awesome as this year is, it's still lacking that one metal album that just floors me.

Damn, I've had a few of that album, even if the album that's floored me the most happens to be a punk record.

Honestly my top 9 right now (Fucked Up, WITTR, Altar of Plagues, Protest the Hero, SubRosa, Burzum, Liturgy, Vader, Deafheaven) have all kicked my ass as hard as anything did last year. And I have yet to hear the new ones from like a half dozen other bands that I fully expect to be nearly as good. 2011 is the best year for music of my life. Honestly.

I have one, but it's not a metal record.

The correct answer.

EDIT: Expect to be hearing a new Cormorant song in August, with album details being released in the next week.

I completely agree. This year has been so fucking incredible. I honestly can't even believe it's only July and there so many amazing records out. There are still quite a few bands (Mastodon, Revocation, The Faceless, Landmine Marathon, Skeletonwitch,Fleshgod Apocalypse, and some others) that can potentially release top 10 material. I am going to feel bad omitting a lot of records from top 10 this year.
