The 2010 Got Djent? Best of 2010

Love it or hate it, it's one of the better lists I've seen off of the net. Plus there are FREE cd downloads at the bottom including Cloudkicker. Enjoy!

Meshuggah wasn't number one, and they picked Heliocentric over Anthropocentric. You gotta be fucking kidding me. Fail.

(Actually, now that I think about it, Anthro- is probably more "djent" than Helio-, but the latter is just such a superior album in every way.)

Did they both come out in 2010? I only have Heliocentric and it's finally growing on me. Firmament just clicked with me and I'm wishing I had listened to this cd more since I bought it months ago.

Oh and if Meshuggah was eliglble it should have been #1. Thats just nuts!

HOWEVER...if I'm really honest, there are a whole ton of similarities between the two albums, and fewer differences than I had once believed based on just a couple of listens. [SPOILER ALERT to my year-end thread] I personally think Anthropocentric is going to get slighted this year by reviewers because Heliocentric was released in the same year, and the two will inevitably be compared. Anthropocentric was not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination, if you ask me. It's a lot closer to being "Heliocentric, Part 2" than it is to being "A Completely Separate and Distinct Album Which Sucks Donkey Dicks", which is, I'm afraid, how a lot of people are going to end up describing it. It doesn't help that Anthro- has only been out for a short time, either.

Write it all down formally. I have place holders for them

I shall. By the way, you can just go ahead and use what I wrote for Heliocentric in my "Best of" review if you like. I'm happy with it, and I don't think I need to add anything more.

I wish I had heard Anthropocentric before Heliocentric. Helio took a while to sink in where Anthro seems more accessable. She Was the Universe, the title track & Heaven TV grabbed me at 1st listen and I finally had one of their ambient songs make an impression on me. Wilie Zum Untergang was about to be skipped a few minutes in when it suddenly took on a Toolish feel that finally caught my interest. I really like this cd.

If anyone has a hard time getting into The Ocean I think this cd is a much better gateway into appreciating their music. Now I'm going back to Heliocentric, hopefully to be blown away...
