Kerrang has always sucked balls

http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/kerrang.html#1982

Just look at some of these album of the year lists they've done from the 80's (their "prime")

Kerrang! End Of year Lists 1983

1. Def Leppard - Pyromania
2. ZZ Top - Eliminator
3. Kiss - Lick It Up
4. Molly Hatchet - No Guts ... No Glory
5. Dio - Holy Diver
6. Aldo Nova - Subject
6. Manowar - Into Glory Ride
8. Eric Martin Band - Sucker For A Pretty Face
9. Mötley Crüe - Shout At The Devil
10. Ratt - Ratt
11. Journey - Frontiers
11. Yes - 90125
13. Robert Plant - The Principle Of Moments
14. .38 Special - Tour De Force
15. Blue Öyster Cult - The Revolution By Night
16. Judie Tzuke - Ritmo
16. Accept - Balls To The Wall
18. Night Ranger - Dawn Patrol
18. Pink Floyd - The Final Cut
18. Jonah Koslen & The Heroes - Aces

Kerrang! End Of year Lists 1984

1. Van Halen - 1984
2. Prince - Purple Rain
3. Chequered Past - Chequered Past
4. Legs Diamond - Out On Bail
5. Wendy O. Williams - W.OW.
6. John Cougar Mellencamp - Uh-huh
7. Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
8. The Rejects - Quiet Storm
9. Hanoi Rocks - Two Steps From The Move
10. The Cars - Heartbeat City
11. Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi
12. U2 - The Unforgettable Fire
12. Q5 - Steel The Light
14. White Sister - White Sister
15. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather
15. John Waite - No Brakes
17. Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
17. Lords Of The New Church - The Method To Our Madness
19. Molly Hatchet - The Deed Is Done
19. Jim Dandy - Ready As Hell

Kerrang! Albums Of The Year 1985

1. Bryan Adams - Reckless
2. Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love
(do you really need to see anything after this)?

Not a single Iron Maiden, Metallica or Mercyful Fate album among this tripe. Meanwhile Prince is #2 (I have nothing against Purple Rain...but this is supposed to a metal list!), and you also have John Mellancamp, Aldo Nova, and Jim Dandy? Bullshit. I realize that the rock/metal lines were more blurred in the 80's, but Allah shitty dick wiping Muhammed have some standards! Any credibility this piss rag had clearly died with the end of the NWOBHM.

Meh. I ignore everything they do, or have ever done. Same goes for Metal Hammer.

Haha that funny looking guy who was in the VH1 metal specials?

I thought the same thing the other day, when I saw that this years list had Linkin Park at 19 and Electric Wizard at 20. Also, Death Magnetic was #1 in 2008. That is all.

I used to get Kerrang from my local record shop back in the mid to late 80's.

It was my favorite metal mag.

Sure it had some fluff but it had good album and concert reviews. I had to get my metal news and review fix from somewhere, pre-internet.

I wouldn't have so much of a problem with the fluff if they weren't missing some key albums. For instance Piece of Mind- I've gone on record saying that its definitely the most overrated of Maiden's classic albums, but I'd still have it for the top 10 albums of 1983.
