You're crossing the line between intelligence and pretentiousness if you don't recognize that MMA is good sport.

It doesn't appeal to me in any way, shape, or form. I'll leave it there. Maybe it has some social value, if so, I haven't seen it, but strictly as a sport I don't find it entertaining, and I find its fans (that I know of!) to be some of the worst people in the world.

But hey, I hate NASCAR and some other stuff too, and people seem to love it so more power to ya man.

The thing about MMA and I suppose sports fights in general, is that the fights just don't seem that brutal. I watched a clip show of...I think it was top 10 most brutal knockout punches or something, and they all looked like love taps. I'm not accusing it of being fake or anything, but I was like "Really? That was the knockout punch?" Professional wrestling looks like it hurts more, and all that shit is choreographed!

Oh and too all of you who wish to respond "I bet if you were receiving the punch you wouldn't think it looks soft" go google image shitporn.

Well that's different, I can't stand NASCAR but I can still appreciate the skill it takes to be a driver and I can understand how you can be into it if you like auo mechanics and such... but I still don't care for it lol. I've been doing martial arts my entire life and wrestle for my school, so this is something I'm actually very passionate about. Trust me I hate the people you're talking about just as much as you do Although I have been known to wear the occasional Affliction/TapOut shirt

I can't stand the bros in the TapOut and Ed Hardy shirts, but you'll find that with any sport. MMA is better than pro wrestling because 1) its real, 2) those guys train REALLY hard to get into the shape needed to put up with that, and 3) combat sports in general have impressive histories in most cultures. I bought The Pit Workout dvd with John Hackleman, and although I haven't done it yet, I know it is going to be a great workout because I've seen videos of how those guys train. They may be meatheads, bros, and jocks, but they work really hard and they've got conditioning and strength down to a science.

That being said, I don't really like the atmosphere of the sport, the whole "I'm more macho than you, I'm going to wail on you with every ounce of testosterone I possess to prove that I am better than you, look at that half naked girl with the round number card, lets get drunk and watch the fight." Its too low brow for me, but like I said, I respect the athletes.

This is hilarious. You should do stand up. I'm sure you'd kill.

That's the whole thing, I think you and Brad are perceiving this, have you ever been to even seen a non UFC fight?

There are 'fight clubs' around where we live, and I've seen a few guys lifting at the YMCA wearing their t-shirts. Also, when I was younger, I went to a few MMA events called "The Tough Man Contest". So, yes...I have seen non-UFC fights.

And almost all sports that involve male competition in physical games boil down to testosterone and dominance.

I would 100% rather watch boxing/kickboxing than MMA. Taking your opponent to the ground? Pussies.
