POMis my favorite Maiden album even though it was Powerslave that "changed my life".

PowerMaiden - you did title the thread "The top 101 albums that changed my life", are you in a similar situation as me there? Would your top 101 albums list be any different than the 101 that "changed your life"?

Just curious!

John

I know I didn't comment much at all on this thread. But I gotta say that this has been one of, if not the best Thread I've ever seen here.

As much of a music fan I am, there is no way that I could ever get 101 albums in order that changed my life. Very damn impressive! Thank you!

Now you should do the 101 albums that changed your life....for the worst.

@ John, yes my list of favourite album would be very different, things like Judas Priest's Defenders Of The Faith or Def Leppard's Pyromania would not be there. Also Ride The Lightning for example would be much higher than number 3 and the black album by Metallica would top my list of album that changed my life for the worst probably

Cheers !

Awesome 1-2 punch at the top. Growing up my favorite Maiden album was always NOTB and my best friends was always Piece of Mind. We both agreed Revelations, Where Eagles Dare & The Trooper were the 3 best songs on the album but after that we differed. He loved Die With Your Boots On and Sun and Steel and I liked Still Life and Flight of Icarus.

Eventually I came around to those songs but still don't really like the "chorus" to DWYBO. It's just kinda weird to me. I love the rest of the song but even years later I listen to it and I think they could have made an incredible song if they didn't do the group singing thing. To each his own though.

I really like the sing-a-long qualities of Still Life and Sun and Steel. I really think if Maiden had come up with a better line than Life is like a Wheel... more people would like that Sun and Steel as much as I do.

The only thing I can say about NOTB is I remember a list from over a year ago when we all ranked our Maiden albums and I was shocked that some people had NOTB and POM in the lower half of their lists. I know at least 1 person had POM dead last which really blew my mind. In my eyes NOTB is almost the perfect album and will always be my favorite Maiden release.

I just love the list and the effort. It's inspired me to come up with my own list that "changed my life". It won't be nearly as metal as yours however, I do think (I've already got 50) that the non-metal albums contributed in some way (mostly musically) to enjoy the metal and pop-metal as much as I do.

I'm ready for your top 101 albums as of today!!

Thanks, PowerMaiden!

John

Not to try to steal this thread's thunder, but I've kinda been in the process of constructing a "100 Favorite Albums" list, specifically choosing to not repeat artists - but I'm unsure if I want to make it as big of a deal as this - largely because of the lack of interest in "my" music from a lot of people on this forum. Is anyone interested in having me go through with it?
