I'm only including true metal ballads, not hair metal pop ballads. Of all of these, I'd say LitW, ToBH, F2B, and WOM are my absolute favorites, but I really like the rest too. Fade to Black is my number one.

Black Sabbath - Lonely is the Word
Bruce Dickinson - Navigate The Seas Of The Sun
Dio - I Could Have Been A Dreamer
DragonForce - Trail Of Broken Hearts
DragonForce - Starfire
Dream Theater - Another Day
Iced Earth - Watching Over Me
Iron Maiden - Wasting Love
Judas Priest - Angel
Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde
Metallica - Fade to Black
Metallica - One *If it counts*
Metallica - Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Queensr˙che - Silent Lucidity *Not really a true metal ballad, but I like this song so yeah.*
Scorpions - Still Loving You *Same with this one*
Slipknot - Vermilion pt. 2
Sonata Arctica - Replica

Honorable Mention: S.O.D. - The Ballad of Jimi Hendrix

Bruce Dickinson - Tears of the Dragon
Skid Row - Quicksand Jesus
Iced Earth - Watching Over Me
Dio - As Long As It's Not About Love
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Queensryche - Another Rainy Night (Without You)

There are definitely some more...

I love that song. The haters can suck it.

And nice honorable mention, though I personally prefer the Ballad of Kurt Cobain.

I don't think a lot of these songs count as ballads. Just because a metal band records a song with dynamics (acoustic guitars, piano, softer parts) in addition to the heavy parts, doesn't make it a ballad.

Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers
Stone Sour - Bother, Through Glass, Hesitate

And the grestest ballads of all time, metal or otherwise, is of course, the entire Phil Collins solo catalogue.. RIGHTEOUS
