Heavy Metal Yoga

This.

I like heavy metal. I like yoga. But I'm going to have to say that the parts are greater than the sum. This looks absolutely silly. And the 'metal' isn't really metal.

I thought this thread was going to be about Cynic, since they had us do yoga at the Allston gig in August.

Metal is proof that Satan loves us and wants us to be happy.

They did that at a lot of the shows on that tour, from what I've heard.

This reminds me - I was gonna comment to this thread. @ Cameron, I think your observation about the parts being greater than the sum is how I feel, too. I rarely do yoga by myself - it's either to the P90X video or in a class that's held after work on Wednesdays - but when I do, I usually prefer silence or something really mellow without a noticeable beat to it. I don't want to be tempted to move with the rhythm of something external such as music - I think it's best if I listen to the rhythm of my own body and mind instead.

Now when I do the X-Stretch routine, I've been known to wear my mp3 player with a little Caspian or This Will Destroy You playing, but that's a different story.

EDIT: ...and when I lift weights, it's fucking Pig Destroyer or High on Fire or something hella awesome like that. Totes. Gotta have me my metal when I'm a-liftin'.

I don't listen to anything when I workout. I did X Stretch this morning with some country playing the background, but thats only because you really have to focus that hard to stretch.

Not saying the P90x music rocks, but its less distracting than I think my own music would be.
