Black Label Society -- Portland, OR -- September 21st, 2010
BLS @ Roseland Theater
September 21st, 2010 2 Cents opened and put on a good show. They are a talented six-piece that reminds me of a cross between Pantera and Faith No More; very entertaining frontman. Zakk and the other members of the chapter (NJ, Florida, and Pittsburgh respectively) took the stage at 9:40. They prepared behind the raised curtain bearing the BLS emblem. The curtain dropped to begin the show. Fantastic show though only 80 min (with no encore) .The crowd was great. -The Beginning... At Last -Crazy Horse -What's in You -The Rose Petalled Garden -Funeral Bell -Overlord -Parade of the Dead -In This River (large poster of Dimebag over amps stage left) ![]() -Fire It Up ![]() ![]() -Guitar Solo ![]() -Godspeed Hell Bound -The Blessed Hellride -Suicide Messiah -Concrete Jungle -Stillborn

Good set. Could be a little longer. Was his guitar solo 20 minutes. I saw him in rochester last year and his solo was about 20 minutes.

I prefer bands to not do encores. It's not real encores anymore, they're all planned..... So it's really just a waste of 60-120 seconds of your life just standing there..........

True. I've only seen a few bands that did "real" encores - when they had to go and talk to each other and figure out what to play.

Yeah a planned 2-3 minute break after busting your balls for 90 minutes is understandable, but the way most bands do it now is silly.
I won't complain if this set sticks though.

So did all the years of excessive alcohol abuse erase both Stronger Than Death and 1919 Eternal from Zakk's memory completely?
It's not like those aren't the two best BLS albums or anything.

It's not a bad set, considering Zakk isn't the best setlist maker. I hope Southern Dissolution makes it in soon. That my favorite from of the newer songs. BLS never play much longer than 80 or 90 minutes. Its probably because they tour with at least 3 bands that play before them.

Uhhh not exactly thrilled w/ that set. But whomever said Zakk isn't good w/ making setlists that is pretty spot on. The set makes me wonder what happened from '99 - 02 or so. I've heard alot of the newer stuff at this point. A few older ones wouldn't be worst thing in the world. Hoping Clutch gets atleast a decent amount of time for their slot.
